FIRST Robotics Competition - General

This morning the FIRST Robotics Competition 2011 challenge/kick-off was announced. Here is the animation of this years challenge. Fuck FIRST, fuck robotics >:C I spent all of last year in hell because of my schools crappy robotics team. :(

In high school I started a robotics club, but we just didn't have the money nor expertise to participate in FIRST. We choose to join the VEX competition which is a smaller competition. Funnily enough, I was a volunteer at one of last years regional FIRST competition in Phoenix. Sadly college students can't participate.

Robotics clubs? Jesus Christ, the only clubs my school had were the Anime Club and the Herbology Club. The Herbology Club met in the bathrooms during class.

But I stopped going because kids would get so excited about the anime that they would sweat and the whole room smelt because nobody in that club wore deoderant. But the only reason we got into it was beacause JcPenny was generous enough to give us a lot of money.

That mini-bot climbing thing at the end makes it look complicated. How did your team implement that?

I was in this like 8 years ago. Good old P-Basic.

We are thinking about lifting the minibot higher up the pole so it has an advantage. We are probly going to have 3 mini wheels on 3 side of the pole so it can climb itself up really fast.
