this is pretty big cant wait for it to be dumped
I've never actually seen a 64DD operational before. I wonder if there's any extra content in that version of the game. I wonder if the video is legit.

And it's apparently the SM64 disk that is used at one of the Space World events. http://www.gamekult.com/blog/Jimmy130/
I did not notice any difference from the Japanese version of Super Mario 64 on cartridge. The game seems to have rather quickly was focused on disk. It seems to me that the load times are a little longer than the cartridge release. As I have shown in the previous section, the labels are wrong. But in addition the game is buggy. Super Mario 64 has not been optimized for the 64DD. The backup D is 118 stars. It is impossible to have the last two stars because the game crashes when I try to go collect. On level 13, Great Small Island (Tiny-Huge Island) when it enters the mountain for stars 5 and 6, the game crashes.
So it's a 64bit version of mario?
That's awesome.
Now I just wish someone could find a disk for Zelda Gaiden/Ura Zelda.
Too bad it's only awesome for the technical factor of its mere existance, without any actual changes of its own.
God damn, I thought this was going to be some long lost Super Mario 64 (2 / 128 / DD) all new or partially new game. Still fuckin' awesome.
was probably never compiled onto any disk, development was scrapped before I imagine the game really had any foundation going for it. The 64DD was failing to catch on around the time Ura Zelda began to come to be. If it exists it's the most alpha-y alpha ever, which to most people would be pretty boring, but would be IMMENSELY huge to see what's in the thing's data for people like me.
Exactly. For me I just want to see what could have been, even if it was super alpha.
Man, would love a Nintendo 64DD. Expensive as fuck though; understandable of course for its rarity. Pretty cool to see one operational. Would love to see Ocarina of Time 64DD version, if it exists.
There probably isn't much interesting in there, but I'd still like to see a dump of it. The guy didn't post much footage, but in the small amount he did post I noticed that the castle theme is slightly different. That right there is proof that there's gotta be a least a little bit of new stuff hidden on the disk. It is interesting that what is essentially an expo demo disk includes the full game and the ability to have save files. Also interesting that a previous owner played the game to near-completion already (except for the two stars they can't get because the area is bugged). I wonder if they knew what they were doing or if they were legitimately oblivious to the fact that SM64DD is rare and doesn't exist in retail. I've heard some stories of people inadvertently playing prototype carts in their childhood and then realizing years later what they actually played.
