I guess its now confirmed that Steam is gonna get bitcoin support.
I've never used Bitcoin myself. It sounds so unstable.

I remember it being so unstable (a year or two back) that a lot of people used dogecoin as currency instead.
Speaking of that, is dogecoin still used anywhere?

Careful, the people who obsess over bitcoin as the 'future' will start spewing armchair economists at you.

or making snarky "the bubble's gonna burst any day now" jabs at how people said that so much back when BTC was at like $12 and rising
hindsight 20/20 coulda been rich etc etc, I still have no idea how to even begin operating BTC. It doesn't bother me it exists but it's still something I want to understand how it even got as much traction as it did
I just personally look at Bitcoin as something best to not get involved with. Whether other people think it's fine doesn't bother me - I just naturally block it out.
Well whether or not it interests you or whether or not it will be the future is kinda impossible to tell.
This is quite a big step-up in terms of adoption though.
At the moment the technology is really still in its infancy; if media companies start implementing it more (i.e. pay 5 cents to read this interesting article instead of paying $5 for a months subscription) then it might change a few things about how we consumer content on the internet.
Oh sweet, this means I can use my 9*10^-11 cents of Bitcoin I mined once.

Actually, it's probably worth more now..

I was a coin toss away from buying $400 worth of bitcoin at 12 cents per

that coin toss failed me
i have a friend who was heavily invested in bitcoin back when it was really cheap. he built a mining machine using an evga sr-2 with dual cpus and a shitload of amd video cards
he doesn't like it when people ask him how much bitcoin he made, but he's told me that he was heavily audited by the irs and another friend told me that he cashed in close to a million dollars from bitcoin
[editline]26th April 2016[/editline]
we use his old mining machine as a plex server now
whenever I read about bitcoins, I always remember that one guy who accidentally threw out his harddrive and then discovered afterwards just how much the price of bitcoins had skyrocketed. he had lost close to a million dollars.
I still dont understand what the fuck bitcoin is.
did the guy in the video just run a flight of stairs or something
I kind of wish I knew how to use bitcoin in general.
Wasn't there some Facepuncher who almost got robbed of his Bitcoins here?
I lost a bitcoin when MtGox went down. They had a way to claim it back however I lost my log in details and there was no longer a way to retrieve it back.
Its still crazy how much money some people have made selling them.

I honestly tried to get bitcoins but I couldn't really comprehend that tool, in any case I was late to the party anyway.
