He's got a point about the tetrominoes, and their universally understandable basis. Its basic geometry that comes from the "Math is the universal language" saying.

Well he did say he's not very good at the game.

To me he wanted to build more layers to erase. Don't you get more points for more layers at once?

clearing 2 lines instead of setting up for a tetris makes you a bad player.
Not Tetris has destroyed idle time between classes and is my perfect "the instructor is already covering shit I know, how can I inconspicuously kill time without being remotely attached."
I recommend everyone try it, at least once. It's a tiny download.

You know what? I'm going to say it. I can stay silent no longer. Tetris is boring.
For my major project in my final year of school I made a Tetris clone. I'm not very good at coding, but I ended up with something that worked, but it was hard (the collision system is no joke.)
What made it worse is that giving it to other people just had them comment 'It's just tetris, then' like it was no challenge at all to create.
Matthewmatosis is probably the best game reviewer.
I still play the GB version regularly. It's an amazing time-waster and absolutely perfect for keeping my mind engaged while I'm listening to a long audio interview/review/etc. Without Tetris, my mind tends to wander and look at other websites/chats and I end up not paying attention and losing a lot of info. If I have Tetris on-hand, though, my ears and comprehension remain focused on what I'm listening to while the rest of my brain is locked on Tetris.
I really, honestly wish I was allowed to play it during class lectures. It would seriously help me pay attention a lot more.
My score's been getting pretty high these days, too (or at least by my standards it is):

I prefer Sextris (6 blocked pieces)
the thought that tetris as a game is so universal in it's nature that it is entirely possible that there are some alien civilizations somewhere that has developed it independently from us (and each other) is just so weird and fascinating at the same time

Tetris is a very mathematical game and mathematics are a universal language

I would have done the same to build up for a tetris

Oh that sounds really neat, I'm gonna look that up.

Man, to even achieve the 'Grand Master' rank, you have to survive invisible stacking during the credits. :v:
I now want Pentominoes.
