I didn't see this posted here yet. Apparently a WIP clip put together by a fan, looks better than anything Lucas has done in the past decade or two.
I love that this shows off the Empire as they should have been portrayed in the movie: Superior technology and firepower, to a level that renders any sort of resistance unlikely to succeed. It's like, Stormtroopers wear armor, and Rebels wear cloth uniforms. Tie-Fighters exist in greater numbers and have superior maneuverability and Star Destroyers are bigger and far-better armed. That and the fact that the Super Star Destroyer got off three shots before getting dropped pissed me off to no end :v: The Empire is supposed to be dark and intimidating, and the movies made them out to be a joke. [editline]21st September 2012[/editline] That and the animation is gorgeous.
Wooow, that's the best star wars related media I've ever seen, and its fan made!
christ that wouldve taken years to get done for just one guy (if the descriptions right). I can see the stormtroopers are rotoscoped but im not quite sure if its 3d or just really well done animation on the ships.
Can anybody give me a direct link? When I try to watch any video without "https" on the top I get a movie not loaded error. :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tBM2ZfncoU Will that do?

This is beautiful, just wow! The animation looks like old 80's cartoons but with high quality of the modern day.
The ONLY thing I can complain about is the obvious "Anime" characters. A stone cold "Fire." is better than some superevilcannonfirepower-fire-pose. And the flashy pilots. Other than that, it's goddamn amazing.

And it doesn't look very anime at all, apart from the eyes. If the eyes were white there'd be no problem.

I love how the cockpits are based off the old Star Wars Flight Sim games, specifically X-Wing and Tie-Fighter
Only things that bugged me were the weird anime poses and how it kept zooming in on their eyes.
I did my own SFX for this video too. :v:
The art style is similar to that of Interstella 5555, which is awesome.

this animation remind me of the X-Men cartoons due to the same art-style but this one has greater animations.

Doesn't take into account shields on the rebel fighters, giving them better survivability than ties. Rebels not putting up any kind of fight doesn't sit well here.
Dude what? And it doesn't look very anime at all, apart from the eyes. Even when he was just standing on the bridge he was shifting poses and such.
I was there when the guy posted this on /m/ and he said he wanted to keep it unlisted and exclusive to/m/ until he had finished and was really intent on keeping secret until it was finished but I guess someone had to tell the news sites. Really sucks for the guy.
Is that... is that the music from SW:KOTOR? Oh my god, I remember that playing on loop so much, so many memories of that game.

IMHO that would've been a bit better, but the way he did it was still pretty awesome. Whole thing was badass and if THAT'S a WIP, I can't wait to see a final.
Yeah, the anime stuff really bothered me. Seeing the cheesy poses and stuff (and the artstyle in general) just makes me cringe. I don't know why, anime just doesn't sit well with me. I think it's how over-exaggerated they make the movements and dialog. Otherwise, I liked it. The intimidation factor in the music especially made the Empire look as badass as they should have been.
The anime itself didn't bother me, it was the way that they had to show all of the pilots' super angry faces every 15 seconds. It was fine the first time, but 4 times is weird.
I sometimes like to imagine some scenes from Star Wars being animated Akira style, like that speeder bike scene and the finale from Return of the Jedi after I saw the WIP video of this.
