I'm really excited for Joji's new work in the future, he's really talented
He might be releasing an EP finally as well in a few weeks Cool to see that he's going to be making more music under joji now
I really can't get into any of these at all, they all sound like they could come from same lo-fi bedroom rappers that have been around SoundCloud for years, he's not really doing anything special. I also wasn't sure if I was supposed to take the sentimental themes in all of his tracks seriously considering this is a guy that dressed up in a pink morphsuit whilst partaking in eating vomited cake batter laced with human hair. A lot of his lyrics sound like they come straight from a Zayn Malik record or any other chartfodder types.
official video got released just now
Its just weird seeing him like this. I liked his parody raps more from pink guy

I got attached to that title. Also I think people do their best work when they're free to do it, for themselves, not really caring who its for or what they're doing it for. I like the Pink guy Joji era of music better than some of the stuff he puts out now. Like thom was really creative, with the change and stuff but this song sounds pretty bland and generic. I feel like the pressure telling fans that he's releasing an album soon, then having to work on that album for these fans, it's gonna mess with his head and fuck up his creative process. I'll still try to enjoy the album he puts out though.
I really can't get into any of these at all, they all sound like they could come from same lo-fi bedroom rappers that have been around SoundCloud for years, he's not really doing anything special.
listened to it in the car and I was sort of disappointed by this same thing. it's not that I expect joji to all of a sudden create this massive innovation......but he is just capable or so much more. the video was fantastic, the song itself was mediocre and reeked of "trying to impress a big label"
I don't know I really enjoy all of the songs Joji puts out, maybe I'm just super basic
I don't know I really enjoy all of the songs Joji puts out, maybe I'm just super basic
I also enjoy them. joji's always been making these super chill, lofi, lowkey beats with minimalistic lyrics and shit. It just sounds like he's picking that back up... lol I mean I guess I understand people wanting more Pink Guy and yes joji is capable of "more", but it sounds like he's finally getting back to making stuff he's been good at for a long time. But sure, he's doing this out of nowhere to impress some big label. [editline]18th October 2017[/editline] Man I could totally see him and Steve Lacy doing a gangster ass collab
But sure, he's doing this out of nowhere to impress some big label.
both the songs you just posted are still significantly different than the one in the OP, and both of those songs have more soul than "will he" does imho
I can't get into mumble-style lyrics at all
i feel like he got too thrust into the spotlight with places that can shove money his way too quickly for what he's doing. I liked his earlier stuff immensely, it was down temp ambient and chill and i liked the mumble lyrics. But when that just became his ONLY thing it got old fast but the videos hes pumping out are well made cause he was able to quickly get some good funding from his youtube fame to do this. I feel like he'll burn out quickly at this rate, not from lack of trying or effort or desire but because he too quickly made the jump. I honestly think his parody rap was immensely better because it was funny, well written, had great backing music and was just fun to listen to. Joji was super chill to listen too but its starting to hit that point where each tracks sounds just very similar and the style is just consistently the same with no added flare.
I wasn't really feeling this track in particular (I attribute that more due to me having super high standards and expectations for a Joji track), but I still like his older tracks like Thom and You Suck Charlie, and I don't think that's just rose-tinted glasses speaking. I wouldn't really compare him to a typical "Soundcloud artist" as some have, but I do think some of his recent tracks are mildly off compared to his earlier tracks. I'm still super stoked for that EP of his coming out though!
this was boring as fuck
sad piano oclock
this was boring as fuck
Ehh, I'll admit I feel the same. It sorta feels like more of the same which isn't always bad but it's not one of my favorites like the other ones he's done in the past. Hopefully his next stuff is better?
Huh, the video is gone. Was this uploaded on Joji's own account?

i spotted this on the boiler room vid
Man, he was getting p i s s e d about the sound being off.
iirc this is his first 'live show' at a venue. So of course he was nervous, you can see his apprehensive and him gaining his field experience. wasn't that great but it wasnt that bad given a first time. He needed something to focus on to sort of get the butterflies out.
As much as I want to fanboy and defend Miller to hell and back, my feelings on his style can't deny the fact he needs to change Joji real quick. I used to listen to Chloe Burbank religiously for like 3 weeks when it first leaked. When he was featured in Nomadic I was hyped, but then he dropped Will He which I liked at first, but now it's getting tired real quick. His Chloe Burbank project had so much more soul and albeit being a personal outlet Chloe Burbank gave a better demonstration of who Joji is than the slice we're being given that is Will He. Guess we're just going to have to wait for the rest of his EP to drop to see what else he has in store.
fucking godamnit this song hits me fuck
He dropped this yesterday on his twitter: EP will be out on the third.

The first half uses lyrics from this and it uses the beat from this (One of my favorite ones actually)
