if only mobas were as fun as their cinematic trailers implied.
That could apply to most cinematic trailers, to be honest.
Can they only do smiling animations on the faces? They are shoving so hard in my eyes these smiles lol
I gotta say, I'm probably biased but I love Smite. And fuck the "meta" or any of that shit, I don't play the hardcore competitive conquest map. I play the Arena, Assault, and Siege maps, and those are extremely fun and fast paced, with long matches lasting 30 minutes at most. It does suffer heavily from the 'e-economy' microtransaction cybershilling, I'll give it that, but definitely give the game a try, it's Free to Play and the free rotation is usually decent, and you can unlock Gods without paying a dime.
I wish smite was a 1/10th as cool and fun as this trailer makes it look. Boloni being a cool character aside, the game plays like ass.

As far as free to play business models go, Smite has one of the fairest, where you can buy every god forever for 25 bucks if you can't be arsed to grind them.

Or 16 bucks considering the ultimate god pack on sale currently (on Steam at least).
Nice quality trailer but I wonder why they made all the characters who recieved the fire giant buff look high off their nutter.
Not to mention they waifu-ified Bellona... where'd the big anime eyes and freckles suddenly come from?

They were probably going for a more subtle look for the fire giant buff considering the buff ingame is a silly giant ring around you.
Of course they lost, Neith kept focusing the tank.
Lol noobs.

"report thor and neith plz"
"Sun Wukong has called a vote to surrender"
"lol get me out of here"

What is this horribly uniformed post doing here
That could apply to most cinematic trailers, to be honest.
MOBAs and MMOs are especially guilty of it, though.
This really didn't do the game much justice. It felt really inconsistent in its pacing.
Still pretty though.
I'm just speaking from my own experience and having played with people who have no idea what they're doing
I play low-tier gods over and over and over and crush Leagues. Fuck the tank meta; I still build heavy damage mage.
Just coming from personal experience.

At least they realized just to fuck seriousness for a bit and have some fun with their characters. I'd watch a lot more cinematics if they stopped making them feel so angsty and serious. The ones for League weren't bad and neither were the Dota 2 ones but a non-serious one in a while wouldn't kill the whole game.
beautifully animated but the choreography and pacing felt really weird and inconsistent
smite is probably my favorite moba at this point though, partly because it seems to have the least shitty community
Just commenting on the video, no idea about the game. The flow was really all over the place. Feels like it was made by someone who can make decent animation and models but lacks direction.
Global Agenda and Tribes Ascend died for this
:(

Tribes was able to get another update like a month ago (and another one soon) because of Smite. Smite was actually successful unlike GA and Tribes.

Even worse, I've heard that because of Smite they're turning GA2 into a 5v5 arena game

Dota 2 has literally everything unlocked for free, the only thing you buy for is skins. Calling anything else "the fairest" is just being plain wrong.

While it is true that Dota has the fairest F2P model, Smite's is still very generous considering Hirez doesn't have the branding power Valve has with Dota. It's basically play our game for free and unlock every god eventually or just spend $30 to what is basically buying the game as if it were retail. Since gods are the only gameplay changing things you can buy and they don't take that long to unlock for free, I'd say it it's still a pretty generous model.

Understand who owns Dota 2 though. Valve can take those risks without having too much to lose, unlike smaller companies

Blame the market. People prefer casualized MOBAs to shooters that require a time investment to get decent at. Hi Rez lost on Global Agenda and broke even on Tribes so I can see their interest in making sure their next project was a guaranteed source of profits.

Valve has outright said that they can risk losing money on a project because Steam will recoup the losses.
Meanwhile HiRez made one game that lost them money and another that barely broke even, where as by all accounts Smite has been a financial success.

You get a gold star for reading.
He said "ONE of the fairest" not "THE fairest." Yes, Dota 2 has the fairest F2P model of probably any game. Smite is near the top of the list too though for me, since buying all the current and future characters for a flat price is a pretty huge deal given that characters can cost anywhere from $5-$15 as far as shitty F2P models go if you don't feel like grinding.
On the topic of the trailer, I don't like it. The music choice, the fact that everyone has a stupid ass grin on their face and the pacing all ruin this trailer for me. It was beautiful to look at, at least animation and art wise.

40 million loss in two years because of those two games, tell me one company that would keep them working when that happens.
Behind the scenes:

Cinematic trailers just make me wish that when I want to do something in a video game I can - but there's no chance of anything that dynamic happening in the near (and probably distant) future. Get's me riled up.
Smite is probably the best moba rn
Aww man...
She scratched the shit out of that tile floor.
That shit is expensive.
Who raised her? Like seriously, does she even give a fuck?
