For once he didn't get upset about a FoV slider
For once he didn't get upset about a FoV slider
No but he did say that since the game runs at 30fps he'd have normally written it off entirely and that he only gave it a pass in this case because of the animation style.
The part with Hankey was amazing. I've got to pick this up soon.
Don't know why I'm getting dumbed for that he says it right in the fucking video and I quote: "You can set the refresh rate of your monitor but it doesn't make any bloody difference because the game's locked at 30fps. Now usually that would be enough reason for me to dismiss the game entirely however... we are talking about a role playing game, a turn based role playing game. More to the point I have a feeling the 30fps was required to make the animation style work. So this would be one of those very, very, rare circumstances where I would say where, actually, it's ok it's in 30fps." But of course, I forgot TB is infallible.

The bold part is the important part. If you can't understand why you're being dumb about this, then no one can help you.

I ain't talkin about just this game.

You're being dumbed down for hating on him because he thinks that 30 fps for a PC game is a joke. Because it is a joke. Same for a lack of FoV slider in PC FPS games, some people can't stand too low/high FoV and it's not that hard to put it in there. It's like missing brightness or sound volume slider. He stated that "WTF is" is concentrated on the PC version and that he will always take a look at the options before he shows the gameplay, but if you don't care about the options he gives you annotation to skip it, so what is the problem? [editline]4th March 2014[/editline]
Except my point is that NORMALLY this would instantly make a game shit in his eyes. I don't think there should be a cap but it doesn't solely make a game garbage especially when most games a perfectly playable at that framerate. Sorry that my standards for what make a game terrible are not as absurdly high as TB's.
Oh wow i wasn't expecting much from this game and i don't even like turn based games but damn it looks fun, i might buy it

The whole point of playing on PC rather than consoles is that we get the experience of better graphics and 60fps etc. Then the FoV slider, there are people like me who are affected hugely by low fov and it makes any first person game with lower than 80 fov completely unplayable. It hurts my eyes and after 10 minutes I have a headache. Just because they don't affect you doesn't mean these issues aren't important.
What I don't understand is why every TB video is posted outside of the TB megathread. Go post it there where people who want to see TB content get TB content.
If we can actually talk about the game for a second, it seems like it's a lot like Mario and Luigi, only enjoying it is entirely dependent on whether or not you can stomach South Park's "humor".

i'm not saying caps aren't silly but claiming that they mean the product is "broken" and not worth playing is silly as all hell. honestly most of the times caps are imposed is because certain issues come up with the animations when they're played at higher and higher framerates, desyncinc with audio, etc. play any old or emulated games and you'll see that dark souls runs at 30 fps. the animations look fine. Someone is selling me a product which has a quality that is a strong point on it's target market but a flaw outside it. And as I'm not the part of the target market, I consider that quality a flaw.
What I don't understand is why every TB video is posted outside of the TB megathread. Go post it there where people who want to see TB content get TB content.
Because with videos like these it doesn't matter who made it. With something like Game Grumps or RoosterTeeth a megathread works because you watch the videos for the people in them, not the game. Reviews/first impressions you watch for the review, not the reviewer. If this was only in the TB megathread a lot of people who might be interested in a look at the game would miss it.

Do I have to be entitled to see that the game is at 30 fps and feel it doesn't look as good as it could, because my rig can easily run it at 60+? It is of no importance to me that the quality a product has is it's strong point on a different market. Limitation of FPS is a flaw for PC games.
I just love the video because "I won't look at the tv because spoilers", then Cartman busts down the door with spoilers. And his reaction to Mr. Hankey

If the only bad thing about a game would be the 30 fps limiter, I'd consider it a serious flaw but I wouldn't dismiss the game completely however if you have a console port with fps locked at 30, that's a good indication that the port might be shit and there are other problems with it.

Because only being able to get 30fps on two titans IS a negative
