Did they revise the Discovery? It looks a lot better now
Did they revise the Discovery? It looks a lot better now
The initial stuff we saw was a test animation based off an old unused concept, just for hype.
holy shit holy shit :dogcited:
Did they revise the Discovery? It looks a lot better now
Looks mostly the same to me, the bussards seems to be yellow now though
yeah looks generally the same though maybe shaped up in a few areas. thank jesus they made a point about "what it means to be human". star trek without an exploration of humanism just isn't compelling.
Interesting uniform at the end. Looked more like the Enterprise era uniforms as opposed to stuff we see from TOS and on, though I thought this was supposed to take place between TOS and TNG.

Other then being blue, I don't see much resemblance to the Ent uniforms.
I saw the concepts before but they had a wireframe cgi model that looked leagues better, unless its for another ship.
I saw the concepts before but they had a wireframe cgi model that looked leagues better, unless its for another ship.
Its probably a different ship Might be the USS Shenzhou
I'm so damn worried it being bad and not Star Trekish, but also excited.
I like Star Trek a little less than Star Wars but when I originally heard what Discovery was I was utterly horrified. Something along the lines of some of the main cast being trans and gay and that being their ONLY character traits and reasoning for being apart of the show. Then empowering women or some shit by saying this was the first Star Trek show with strong female characters, but conveniently forgetting Janeway. Please tell me that was just a rumor.

But the rest of that is untrue The original Showrunner and writer of the pilot, is gay, I'm sure he would have made sure they treated the character right. I really hope it doesn't suck, I don't want Star Trek to die again.
I thought since Star Trek was created when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness they had a cure for it?
I thought since Star Trek was created when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness they had a cure for it?
Nothing like that was ever said in the shows.
Apparently Gene had the idea to put gay characters in TNG. This never materilized since he died. However they do feature an episode about gender conventions in which a species evolved beyond gender, but a vast minority of them have a pull to identify as gendered. This is seen as unacceptable and they forcefully "cure" these people. It's a really sad episode, framing itself to be an analogy to contemporary issues.
Nothing like that was ever said in the shows.
Oh huh someone told me that must have been wrong then haha
Apparently Gene had the idea to put gay characters in TNG. This never materilized since he died.
I had always assumed Tasha Yar was supposed to be gay. Was that not a thing, did I just make that up?
I had always assumed Tasha Yar was supposed to be gay. Was that not a thing, did I just make that up?
She had sexual relations with Data, who is modelled after the male body, so I'd say no
Dax is gay I guess...? [editline]1st February 2017[/editline] in a trill way
Dax is gay I guess...? [editline]1st February 2017[/editline] in a trill way
I'd probably guess bi sexual, since she has the experiences of several life times of both men and women who were married to the opposite sex [editline]31st January 2017[/editline] I've read the Jonathan Frakes said he always tried to play Riker as Bi Heck he wanted a love interest to be played by a male actor in one episode
the one episode with the unisex people and Riker love interest was feminine, I think Frakes wanted the character to be a man.
the one episode with the unisex people and Riker love interest was feminine, I think Frakes wanted the character to be a man.
He wanted the actor to be male. In-universe they were unisex. afaik the network wouldn't let Riker mack on a dude on screen though.
He wanted the actor to be male. Historically its also been pretty good at integrating these concepts into the story, not making them stand out too much or anything with the characters treating as normal behaviour, so I don't suspect they'll be rubbing it in our faces.
The undiscovered country remake? The sound at the end and the costume design. I liked that film, Still. I'd like to see a cross over with the next generation as many of the time travel episodes cross over into this strange new universe as their period hasn't been effected yet.
I thought since Star Trek was created when homosexuality was seen as a mental illness they had a cure for it?
I figured it was like what they said about picard and a cure for baldness, in the future, people wouldn't care.
