Man KaptainKristian has quickly become one of my favorite channels, he fills a niche I've wanted filled for years.
God damn I love kaptainkristian's videos. Was wishing for more by the end of it. Gorillaz is one of my favourite bands and this is really well done.
Motherfucking Gorillaz, I'm so fucking hype for the next album. This guy makes the best topics for videos!
Nice use of the live version of don't get lost in heaven.
Fucking hell, Nice example using empire ants.
Specking of reaching to a huge spectrum of genres, there are tons of influences of different artist of how they style that band music. This chart is pretty interesting:

When I read the thread title I thought this was going to be a new song titled "Deconstructing Genre"

He's like the Ahoy of non gaming stuff.
I have only ever heard "Feel Good" from Gorillaz, and this video has me interested in giving the band an actual listen. I didn't know the characters were made up by a comic book artist, I thought they were just cartoon versions of the band members.
I'm glad Gorillaz exposed me to Deltron 3030, they've both got really creative sampling.

I could post another 30 but i thought these were good examples of the band
gorillaz saved my musical taste. i used to be one of those edgy 'i only listen to rock, rap is dumb' kids. their music opened my eyes and i love their music so much.
I think beyond Blur's self-titled, anything involving Albarn is vastly overrated.

if you like del don't forget to check out his solo stuff and hieroglyphics
I'm glad Gorillaz exposed me to Deltron 3030, they've both got really creative sampling.
Del's role in Clint Eastwood was so fucking good. His verses are insane.
I'm so happy I found out about him through Gorillaz.

Yeah Gorillaz was the last thing I had on my mind for the next video, was an interesting surprise.
Man, I remember when Dare was all the rage on the radios. It was played as much as fucking Bring Me To Life by Evenescence was played on Kerrang.

Instrumentals from songs like this really gets my day going, It's a personal hobby to make music from sampling music.
Best Gorillaz song checking in

I never knew why I imagined 2D rather than Albarn, even when I knew Albarn was singing. I guess it's just a testament to the universe they created.

Nah man:

Gorillaz was one of the first albums I listened to in it's entirety and it helped me grow a greater respect for music. I wasn't much of a music guy and I'm still not really one, but I have an appreciation for genres I wouldn't have been as comfortable in exploring. Hip Hop mainly, but the fact that they tackle so many different genres and combine them in ways I wouldn't expect makes me so interested, and it helps grandfather me into genres I don't normally listen to.
Beyond that, the fucking videos are just so great. Gorillaz isn't just a band, they're a bunch of characters, a story that flows between their videos but still has the legs to have each video stand on it's own in an abstract way. The music has the legs to do crazy stuff and have inconsistencies in who's actually playing, allowing them to explore new combinations of music.
Gorillaz will be a time capsule for Alt. music of this generation, because it provides almost every outlet and genre of our time, from pop to hip hop to electronica and more. And for those of you who didn't know (like me) the new album's been delayed to '17. shame, but I can't wait to see what they cook up.
kaptainkristian is meh now
I need to get back into Gorillaz. They were my favorite band back in middle school, but for some reason I just stopped following their stuff.
I'm profiting from this topic. I wanted to show this off. Apparently kid koala (deltron 3030) did something during the first phase (self-titled/spacemonkez) with gorillaz?

Oh and damon was in self titled deltron 3030 album also. For two songs right?

I've listened to most of the well known albums by them, but never The Fall. Amarillo sold me on it, gonna go buy it after posting this
There's nothing wrong with liking specific genres or not liking genres. You don't need to listen to every song in a genre to not like it, lol.

Agreed, everyone likes their own thing. I still like to keep an open mind though, and won't be afraid to admit I like something if its from a genre I generally dislike. I grew out of that shit after high school.
