Voting for same sex marriage but against same sex adoption isn't a contradiction.

Yes it is.

"I want increased civil rights for a minority in that area, but I don't want to increase their civil rights in this area."
Interesting videos for someone like myself who's about to be a first-time voter, though I already knew a lot of it and feels more like something a teacher would put on.
Also FYI, this dude is Beardyman's brother.
There is no chance anyone but Conservative will win in my district lol

some people believe that being raised in a same-sex family would be bad for the children
there is no definitive scientific proof for either side of the argument (studies on the subject are almost always biased for one side and often contradictory), and while I don't think it it particularly true (at least not more then being raised by a single parent) i dont see it as contradictory by any means

Ok here's why it's contradictory.
Giving someone the right to marry is giving someone a basic civil right.
Straight couples can adopt, which is a basic civil right and provides a child with a family.
Not allowing a gay couple the option to adopt deprives them of a basic civil right and does not provide a child with a family.
It's completely pointless and arbitrary to deny gay couples the ability to adopt.

Is the ability to adopt a kid a basic civil right though? I don't know much about adoption laws, but I always thought it was more of a privilege that can be denied for a very trivial reasons (i.e. powerty, history of problems with law). I wouldn't really call that a basic civil right by any stretch of imagination
It's a douche move, but I wouldn't call it a contradiction
