Extremely nice looking map, here's the site https://activatesubzero.com/
wow this is amazing work! Wonder why the CSGO team hasn't picked this guy up yet. He does some amazing work for the community.
According to a comment on this video there's a easter egg on this map referencing VNN (Tyler who played Hunt Down The Freeman)
This guy is an easter egg in a new community map called SUBZERO. On one of the monitors you can see VNN in the bottom left corners.
That would mean they have to pay him monthly, much easier to just use workshop maps once and be done with it.

They still have to pay him with the operation pass money.

sure but that's nowhere near the amount he would get as an employee. Despite his skills they just won't take him unless they have more plans outside of csgo mapping.

as someone who lives off tf2 workshop money, i can easily see workshop creators making more money from operation pass revenue than working at valve.
i've heard stories of people quitting industry jobs to do steam workshop :v:

They're the success stories. It's like 1 in a couple thousand manage to actually get anywhere with it.

oh yeah don't get me wrong, that's true for sure. i'm just saying that people repeatedly getting their submissions accepted are getting very much compensated for their work and valve aren't cheaping out or anything by accepting workshop stuff.
Eh, maps that don't have an enclosure around the play area look really funky in Counter-Strike. So I don't really dig the whole submarine/outside part of the map. A s a whole boxy and enclosed maps work better in source. cs_cruise is the only map that comes to mind that is set outside and works really well but even then you could argue that the ship itself acts as an enclosure, which is why the water/skybox don't look out of place. The whole game is designed around positioning and angles and when you make an open area, where you can't hide behind cover or find the perfect angle all you'ŗe left with is a game with janky controls that all of a sudden don't work anymore.
Aurora Borealis?
At this time of day?
At this time of year?
In this part of the country?
Localized entirely in your CSGO map?

Because he actually gets shit done.
I can't help but notice how everything is overdetailed; the textures themselves are way too noisy, especially compared to Valve's re-artpassing of the old maps
Those Arctic Avenger models alone make me want to play the map, a classic T Faction that's sorely missing from the game still, alongside Guerilla Warfare.

FMPone uses VTFedit settings that makes mipmaps really sharpened.
I'm really hoping it ends up in a operation along with the arctic avengers.
