A prequel maybe? It seems like the last Gears of War took place in a world were their society broke down and was kind of post-apocalyptic in nature.

No, that's Marcus's son. This game takes place 25 years after GoW3 ends.
Gameinformer did an article about it and gave us more info on the game than any other site did so far. Locust aren't the main enemy in the game, they were wiped out in GoW3, the new threat is called "The Swarm" or something like that although I feel like the devs got lazy and made some of the enemies look way too similar to the Locust. Hell the "drones" of the Swarm look like the drones of the Locust.

based on the imagery shown, it looks to be a sequel indeed.
The kid is the son of Marcus/Anya, and it seems heavily implied the main protag is that kid.

Nah, Gears 4 is a sequel to 3. Judgement was a prequel to the first game, some time after the Locust attacked and everything went to shite.
I'm curious if they're going to replace the Locust for multiplayer. So far none of the new enemies seem to be capable of handling firearms, and are rather just your typical giant alien ant infestation.
so pretty much once again I'd love to get all over this but if WinStore isn't fixed by then, guess no more Gears for me.

They are. There are humanoid Swarm creatures that are very similar to the Locust Drones. They haven't really shown much but there are some pictures of it.
Tears of joy. Really. I love the Gears series, they are a special series to me. This looks good.

I freaking love this. Just got done reading Coalition's end. The Gears have always and will always be a special series to me. It was bittersweet to see Marcus with a family, yet the peace begin shattered so quickly.
I came in here to say the exact same thing as you two, Gears is a really important series to me, I've read the books and everything and it's really fantastic. Tons of great memories online with friends, not to mention that these fuckers know how to make a goosebump causing trailer.
How is the Ultimate Edition PC port? I might pick it up

there's always good old beast mode
Man, that trailer was great. GoW was the first Xbox 360 game I ever played. I remember in 6th grade, my friend was the one of few people in my school with a 360 at the time, and told me GoW was the most violent game ever. He had a sleepover and we played it until like 5AM. Good fucking times.

Last I heard it was borderline unplayable.

this is probably the reason it resonates, because people who were in middle/highschool when Gears 1 came out 10 years ago have memories from what is essentially childhood associated with it.

It's alright, the only real things I could ask for are separate sensitivity sliders for mouse aiming (Controller has it but K+M doesn't), and crossplay, because the game isn't nearly as populated as the Xbone's version. The lack of mod support is disappointing, but hopefully that means crossplay will be more likely. If you played the original gears pc, there wasn't any official chat support, and you had to type in console say "Phrase", but now there is a proper chat and benchmark.
Oh and the community is toxic af, but it wouldn't be gears without that community imo.
Edit
Even though Anya may be [sp]infertile[/sp], I'm still curious who the mother is since her face is always changing.

Runs like a dream on my 970
The pause between "The sound...of silence" really bothers me.
What a shitty planet they live on. I haven't played past the first game but they've had to deal with locust, lambent, and now these fuckers. Even their molemen's molemen have molemen
They're embracing the fact that Marcus is literally muscle incarnate, he's lifting trees like it's nothing.
I love it.

To be fair from Gears 1 to 2 everyone was already pretty fucked.
Especially more so in the first game, cities are deserted and what little is left are stranded who probably don't live much longer than a couple of weeks after the events of gears 1. Gears 2 was more of a failed offensive as they literally lose the last bastion of humanity in exchange for also fucking over the locust.
I dunno how many of you guys saw this, but I still think this video is pretty nifty.
Here's a video about how they got together to make Gears 4.
It's going to be weird having a Gears of War title with no locust whatsoever in it. But it should be interesting whenever they're brought up in either flashbacks or dialogue.
I don't imagine their warbeasts all died too, right? Corpsers and brumaks, all the like.

I don't think so those were all underground wildlife of Sera so I would assume they're there, however the locust were all wiped out due to being infected by the lambent spores so I wouldn't see why the creatures that lived underground somehow avoided that fate (when the bomb in the 3rd game went off, it wiped out anything that was infected by lambent including the locust that lived around it for so long).
It kinda has similarities to the gears 1 trailer when you think about it.
Honestly, the E3 stuff from last year didn't do anything for me, but after finding more and more about this one, I'm hyped. I'm kind of bummed they're not picking up the Judgement storyline, but this new stuff seems pretty cool.

You also have that special hail that comes down like massive shards of glass, the universal fuel source that's actually sentient and parasitic or something, before the Pendulum Wars(which lasted 80 years and was before the first game) there was another world war that lasted more than 1000 years.
Literally the worst planet in the universe for humans.
Speaking of gears
I'm still mind boggled that [sp]The Locust were products of human test subjects, and the queen was a descendant of the scientists that did those tests [/sp]
