Just use a gameshark and be done with it.
Just use a gameshark and be done with it.
Way to miss the point of a speedrun.
Just use a gameshark and be done with it.
Literally within the first minute of the run he explains speedrunning and why people do it.
How many glitches does it take to get to the tootsie roll center of a zelda game
i feel like glitched or TAS speedruns shouldn't really be considered proper speedruns but hey that's just what i feel as an onlooker.
i feel like glitched or TAS speedruns shouldn't really be considered proper speedruns but hey that's just what i feel as an onlooker.
They're just different types of speedruns.
To me, speedrunning is null and void when you bypass the game using glitches or unintended mechanics. Like it was stated above, might as well use a gameshark to just cheat it. The very first thing the guy says is people like to get additional replay value out of certain games by doing certain things, such as speedrunning, and he says himself that Zelda is a journey through an epic world, so how fast can you beat it. Well if you don't journey through the epic world, pretty fast I'd imagine Tool assisted speedruns are worse though. I look at those and think well big fucking deal. At least this type of speed running takes actual coordination, practice and skill

I personally really enjoy watching how much they can break videogames like this.
it should be called a glitch run
He managed to hit the void glitch perfectly. That bloody randomly generated rock is a pain. Anyways, he beat the game using nothing except for what the game gives him, it's a legit run. We're talking about over a decade of training and optimization by the community here. If you think that's not 'legit', neither is playing the piano.

The glitches he does in this run are insanely difficult to pull of reliably, and are just as hard if not harder than a glitchless run. If you want to do it glitchless there are groups for that, as well as 100% runs where you have to get everything. When people complain about speedruns it's kinda dumb, cause there are so many kinds of run depending on what you want to achieve. In super Mario world there are like 5-6 different kinds of run
Good for Cosmo. Awesome run. I kind of want to see the original stream, if it had his usual facecam.

It just took him many tries (I believe final time was something like 32 minutes) [editline]2nd August 2014[/editline]
it should be called a glitch run
The name for that category is "any%"

He does it for himself and the thousands of people that know how batshit crazy it is to pull this off. Try streaming yourself playing Zelda with a gameshark and see if you get the 10k+ viewers that he does. Your whole post stinks of jealousy.
Good for Cosmo. Awesome run. Wow, I just love his passion for the game. He did over 1200 runs in a span of two years and still embraces the fact that someone could possibly beat him in the future if more exploits end up being discovered. That's humble as fuck. It also was more immersive to see him talk about the intricate methods used in the run and how he felt at certain moments of playing. I could never do this shit, but I still love the speed running scene. Even though I have no interest in performing runs like these, you got to marvel at the trial and error it truly takes to master a game like this.
Your whole post stinks of not knowing what an opinion is
Your opinion is shit tho
speedruns.
You're an idiot if you think this is comparable to using gameshark. This takes a fuck ton of practice and dedication.
You're an idiot if you think this is comparable to using gameshark.
Your opinion is shit tho
that's a nice opinion u have thar
I think the people saying that know full well but they're bitter because they don't have the dedication that Cosmo has, no matter how much they want to be in denial about it.
I'm really not understanding how you're coming to this. I guess I'm jealous of football players because every year the super bowl comes around I think it's dumb to have such a big to do about a football game. Or just jealous of anything I don't like for whatever reason.
Why do you have to be so nasty about it?
Not trying to be, but I'm told it's how I seem too be naturally, sorry
speedruns.
Ryan Lockwood in a huge nutshell. All of streams feel like this to me.
Just use a gameshark and be done with it.
Its really condescending and annoying to see a truely impressive achievement, the result of a lot of practice and dedication, belittled like that. Just stop stirring for reactions and say why the hell you dont think speedruns are worth one's time or just ignore it. =/
I love speedruns, seeing some of the weird as fuck glitches they do is interesting.
