welp, it was inevitable
talk about out of nowhere though
So it's just the same thing all over again? I mean I suppose you don't need much of a premise to enjoy it, but still it seems lazy.
It seems to be some of the same stuff but goes more into the movies.

Looks like a more open hub area you can actually fly in this time (having to walk between all those damn areas was so fucking boring), and more arcs to interact with, but some of the footage was straight from the first game which makes me wonder if it's literally going to be a White Knight Chronicles sort of thing of the entire first game with the improvements of the sequel.
Some more info
The sequel builds upon the original game with enhanced graphics in what promises to be the “largest and most detailed Dragon Ball world ever developed.” It offers a new hub city and the most character customization choices to date, among a multitude of new features and special upgrades. Additional details and features will be revealed at E3 2016 between June 14 and 16.
“The Dragon Ball franchise is a crown jewel and a perennial fan-favorite of Bandai Namco Entertainment’s robust anime video game portfolio and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will build upon that illustrious legacy.” said Bandai Namco Entertainment America vice president of marketing Eric Hartness. “With Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, we’re working diligently with the Dimps team to pull out all the stops and push the Dragon Ball video game experience to new heights.”
It barely looks better than the previous one. I want the Burst Limit graphics back.
the graphics only look a little better in the facial animation department, honestly
but yeah, looks like it's a souped up iterative sequel that expands on the first game while containing its arcs because every single Dragon Ball game now has to go over the same Z arcs every time
playing it incredibly safe with a sequel it sounds, and i'd probably wait for a Steam sale this time
This is exactly the sort of game that needed a 1.5 update, it had so many cool things but clearly was their first foray into a title this size, so there were a shitton of problems
I'm honestly going to expect them to make a third game too since that Super show is still in development.
I'm half-curious as to whether they'll actually expand on the arcs covered in the first game too, or just keep them as is. Not to mention if they'll bump up Resurrection of F from being a mere DLC set to a full-on story adaptation in its own right. With Bardock, Future Trunks, and the Tree of Power being covered, I wouldn't mind the whole rest of the story getting souped up to boot.
Combat-wise I also hope they deal with how much of a hassle it was to fight multiple enemies at once, and really fix up the flow to be less spammy/repetitive. I get that those two words describe a lot of later fights in the series, but it gets ridiculous, especially when you're accosted by three Super Saiyans spamming Kamehamehas infinitely in your face, or get caught with no stamina in a physical infinite combo loop
I want them to have an optional "abridged" storyline where you'd obviously play through the DBZ:A version of the story
As someone who put in over 80 hours of the original, I'm super hyped for this game. Will it be much improvement, or go in more directions? Probably not, but it'll be an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
Improvements for multi-fights, and combat improvements to make it less spammy. Things like counters and beam clash could help out with that. We'll have to wait and find out.
So far it just looks like some animation improvements, but otherwise the same graphical features.

As Dodoria and Zarbon are in the trailer, we can assume they are in fact expanding on the arcs covered in the first game too.
Well they definitely have more budget if they've actually got original CGI and not just the usual studio animation opening stuff all the games are practically contractually obligated to have, or so it seems.
Wow Xenoverse only came out last Febuary.
I must have put in like 100-200 hours into the last game, hopeful for this. In particular I hope different abilities are balanced a bit better so more are viable and I hope there are more characters. Like dragon ball z budokai tenkaichi 3 for example had a LOOOOOOT of characters, this really didn't.
Also make it less of a painful grind you cunts, once you hit level 80 it becomes miserable.
I'm definitely going to keep my eye on it. I had a lot of fun with my friends in the original Xenoverse.
I kind of wish we could get a dedicated DBZ fighting game again though. The original Budokai games were the shit, even if they are pretty janky.
Hell, I'd be pumped if Bamco/Dimps decided to port the original games over to PC. Even if the ports would end up being shit.

Came out around this time last year, actually- I know this since it came right off the heels of me finishing the PC version of GTAV. How time flies

It came out on Feb 24th/27th.
Steam Release was the 27th. I remember because I pre-ordered it with birthday monday 2 days before.
Wikipedia says it released last year in February, so it seems we're all wrong. Still, it's been a while since the game came out.
We were talking about last year. Not this year.
One thing they need to fix: Mentors.
I never was able to find the Old Kai in Xenoverse. Either have them cycle through or have more of them at the same time.
And allow players to leave PQs when not the host of it. Was frustrating to play a laggy quest and having to wait to the time to run out just to get out. I played the game almost entirely solo after a while.
Edit: You think it's alright if I necro the Xenoverse thread for this? Or wait for the release?
I dunno if i should just wait on this or buy the original now.

only if you draw a goku
edit: at some point I unfollowed you on twitter, oops
Maybe change up the difficulty so if you're fighting Saiyans you aren't just spamming blue hurricane all the time. By and large one of the worst aspects was the overpowered AI towards the end and the unbalanced movesets.
will I be able to face the ultimate dbz villain
Garlic Jr

This was my biggest issue with the game, i just had super spirit bomb equipped and my friend was a super saiyan built into melee, so he kept the target distracted and i just spammed spirit bombs every game.
Got to a point where it was a bit dull

*beat the hardest difficulty as Ghost Nappa using only melee
