There is some Vaporwave that is really great, but it's because they're creative with it and doesn't need to be called Vaporwave. There's a huge difference between creative sampling and Timbaland-style sampling.

There are certain songs I like off of it simply because it sounds creepy. I actually want to make a soundtrack that sounds similar for a video game I want to make, where the general idea is kind of like Half-life. Trying to escape a gigantic base while having to put up with ironically happy music is one thing, and breaking the music adds a whole other element that can tie very heavily into the storyline.
