For the cameras specs and how durable they are (known first hand) they are surprisingly cheap. They could clearly sell these for a lot more, but they stay relatively accessible to people which is nice :>

The majority of the consumers are people uploading personal videos online. Someone sees how neat the camera is and buys one for themselves. They don't need the markup because they move enough product to stay viable.

I already have a gopro 2 to play with darn. If the gopro 3 can stream video from it's wifi I'll need to get it. edit: ah, I've been told a legit amount of gopro fans/buyers aren't happy with releasing 3 with features that were promised in hero 2 but weren't delivered. They should do something about that.

All the gopro footage I've seen are shaky and muffled with the annoying sound of kkkrrkkrkrrk of plastic hitting the speakers :( I've always wanted a gopro though, seems pretty fun

The white edition is just a rebadged Hero 2 with built in wi-fi The silver edition a slightly updated Hero 2. And the black edition is the one that is fully updated. I don't know why they do this though.

The quality is amazing. Looks better than many larger handheld consumer HD cameras.
