Ugh Midnight's Edge. They lie a lot, at least for Star Trek Discovery, they made up shit and used unreliable sources.

From what I remember the biggest mistake was them saying from sources it was trans-dimensional beings then a trans-dimensional transportation system.
Didn't JJ Abrams straight up say he had zero plans for the sequels.

There source was from some dude a lot of claims that didn't come to pass and was heavily bias against Discovery.
Episode 7 was a movie that had so much going on, yet explained none of it. The world-building was practically non-existent. Even outside of the movie, seeing the explanation of what was going on, I got the feeling that it was all made up to justify what happened in the film rather than the other way around. If J.J. Abrams had a plan to begin with, I don't think that I could care less that it was thrown out. An unpopular opinion I'll bet, but that movie ended when I left the theater. There was nothing for me to care about beyond it being a single movie story. I thought 8 was pretty mediocre as well, but somehow after it I'm left caring more about episode 9 than 7 left me caring about episode 8. It's a bad situation, but nothing of value was lost as far as I'm concerned.
The issue with 7 and 8 is that they're so absurdly predictable that it's not even worth seeing the films since you already know they're very similar to the basic plots of 4/5/6. There's going to be a redemption arc in 9 just as there was in 6.

That's why people were so bewildered when literally none of their theories turned out to be true. And if episode 9 is, it's because JJ is planning to just remake Return of the Jedi. Which is a very likely thing, but I'm holding onto a glimmer of hope that he does something marginally more interesting than that. (Who am I kidding. There's going to be another fucking Starkiller, Rey is going to be Han and Leia's daughter and Kylo's twin sister, and Snoke is going to come back from the dead and tempt Rey to the dark side before being thrown off a balcony by an injured Kylo.)
