I want to know why he took the gun out and was waving it around.

Maybe he just couldn't take that lady's awful office stories anymore.
I want to know why the safety was off
Probably because like a Glock (It does look like a Glock 26 or 27) which I own, it doesn't have one. This is why I don't like carrying guns with a round in the chamber if it doesn't have a safety or isn't at least a double action with a nice heavy pull for the first shot. All it takes is 4lbs of pull on the trigger and the shit can go off. Not enough redundancy for my comfort. It should be in a holster that covers the trigger guard, and it shouldn't be out at all unless you're shooting it at a range/cleaning it at home, IMO I did hear a joke already about this incident:
He saw a black man in the elevator doors' reflection and his police training took over
Terrible, but pretty funny
I want to know why the safety was off
Glocks don't have safeties. They're built into a two-stage trigger TheTalon beat me to it.
They still make guns without safeties? Shouldn't that be against the law/regulations? [editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
Glock's don't have safeties. They should issue dunces like these with revolvers with extremely heavy trigger pull.
The Wonder Nine's happened for a reason tho
He's lucky that hìs wife was there with him and immediately called for help instead of just panicking.
Round in the chamber? Plainclothes? [editline]6th January 2015[/editline] Well, I bet he'll never make this mistake again.
Why doesn't the glock have safety though?
Maybe he needed to adjust his Holster. Still tho, glad he is ok. [editline]6th January 2015[/editline] This is going to sound stupid but how did it fly back at him? I never really thought about it till now.

Was a gutshot afaik, check this out for a shit report on it
Why doesn't the glock have safety though?
I assume it's so cops can quickly react to a threat instead of wasting seconds fumbling with a safety
They should issue dunces like these with revolvers with extremely heavy trigger pull.
nypd actually does this says volumes about how some of their officers shoot lol [editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
Round in the chamber? Plainclothes? [editline]6th January 2015[/editline] Well, I bet he'll never make this mistake again.
you're supposed to have your weapon loaded if you're carrying defensively he failed the basic rule, finger always off the trigger [editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
Why doesn't the glock have safety though?
because glock it works fine when the user respects the firearm not so much when you fail 2 basic firearm rules [editline]6th January 2015[/editline]
I assume it's so cops can quickly react to a threat instead of wasting seconds fumbling with a safety
turning off a safety on a good service pistol is a quick thumb movement, something that should be second nature to an officer when drawing
Why doesn't the glock have safety though?
It's sort of the mantra of Glocks. Ready to shoot when you draw without fumbling around with anything. Police have up to 3 stage holsters, requiring some fast finger work from their index finger and thumb to get the gun out quickly, and that's to prevent it from easily being taken from them. Add a safety in there and it just gets to be too much shit to have to do before you can shoot. As for conceal carrying with your every day carry, IMO, a physical safety is just an easy decision. As long as you practice a bit, it takes no extra effort or time to flip it as you draw, as long as you don't have some complicated level 3 duty holster, which you shouldn't if you're conceal carrying, so there is no drawback to having one, only benefits
The cop is an idiot, but that woman was a champ.
Isn't it true that this glock has a safety built into the trigger itself in order to avoid accidental discharge from objects finding their way into the trigger guard?
Why doesn't the glock have safety though?
glock being a pistol marketed for law enforcement, military, and self defence it's designed so the user can immediately use it when they need to, avoiding the use of a thumb safety
