it's actually hilarious how more then 50% of these dumbs at any time are from people with artsy overwatch avatars
Every time with these shorts, the animation is great but the writing is fucking atrocious.

Completely fine if you guys criticize the work in question for very well founded reasons even if it's starting to get repetitive to listen to but there's no need to shit up a thread just for it (i.e: the posts right above me).

Overwatch Defense Force at full-power today. Seriously, everything about these shorts is superb...when nobody's talking. This one was a little more tolerable than the last, at least

What is this supposed to mean? Are you saying that Overwatch's writing is intended to be as plainly bland as possible? The fact of the matter is that the shorts have [I]really[/I] generic writing and planning. It's getting to the point where "paint by numbers plot" is a standard criticism you can just throw out without even needing to watch the full video.
Probably the weakest of the shorts they've put out, still enjoyable though.

No I mean I thought the characters are supposed to be predictable because they fit generic stereotypes.
I'm not saying this short was great or anything, I just thought that is what they were going for. I thought it was obvious with the Hanzo/Genji one.
Chris Metzen isn't Chris Avellone, we get it already.
All that matters is the trailer is badass, the animation is nice, and the game is fun as hell and coming out TOMORROW.

They're crap even during action. It's dumbass of PG action. Blizzard can't show anyone die or get too hurt.
And for some reason the robots are inserts for whatever oppressed minority blizzard wants them to be because they, again, can't show something bad happening to a human but to a robot its a okay.
The bad writing leaks through the silence.

For a supposed tf2 clone (I don't think it is but many have called it that) we all know a few minute short can be a hell of a lot better than these.
Something about the voice acting... I can't put my tounge on it but it feels odd.

In the last short a robot goon, who in the lore is said to be fully sentient and have a soul, is shot through the chest with an arrow. Meanwhile the human goons are knocked out.
This short would've been so much better if it was just S76 beating up some crime lords for 6 minutes, cut out all of the sentimental bullshit that they're trying to cram in every single one of their shorts.
I think the video was great imo.
