Do people actually believe this shit?
I mean the "Super computer" part, were the AI will be the smartest thing in the world. Listen guys, AI will only be as smart as the creator(s).
EDIT: on the chart at 6:05, an AI will never pass 'All Human Brains' PERIOD.

That's pretty ignorant, actually. A computer with enough power, and an algorithim that lets it learn, could easily surpass the human brain, especially given the enormous wealth of information on the internet that it could draw from. It seems to me like you're somebody with no knowledge of how computers work making assumptions about the cutting edge of computer innovation.
Anyway, I'm actually pretty okay with the concept of a technological singularity. Mankind won't be around forever, if we leave behind a legacy of technology to take our place, all the better.
The way I see it, our machines are human. They may not share our genes, or our biology, but we created them, which makes them a part of human kind. Our children basically. I'd be happy to see them surpass us.
"Worlds first electronic computer!"
Bullshit, Colossus was the worlds first electronic computer.

You have no idea what you are talking about, please leave before you further ridicule yourself.
What computers might become kind of seems like the Geth in Mass Effect. I would love to see that. The Geth are amazing.

As a programmer, I have to say, and other programmers will agree, you're entirely out of your field to say any of these things and hold water.
We only write software for individual goals, not for ever exceeding capable abstraction concepts humans have.

As long as they don't try to commit xenogenocide on us.
6:50 - LOL ARE YOU FOR REAL? DO YOU SERIOUSLY THINK 4CHAN AND FACEBOOK WILL COMBINE AND CREATE A THINKING Ai ONE DAY?

Well the Quarians kind of brought it on themselves. So I don't see why they would find us a problem. Hell it would be better for us if they picked a planet and decided to move there. We could establish a chain of worlds inhabited by both humans and androids.

4chan alone can have an extremely intelligent AI. But hell it could have multiple thinking AIs varying from retarded to an award winning scholar.
Facebook however would just be retarded.

And if I fuse a bunch of toasters together, I might be able to make the Brave Little Toaster! Obviously AI works this way.

True, but since they have the ability to think for themselves, don't you think they would have some sort of internal conflict?

I'm not qualified, you're right. I'm just saying a computer with the capacity to learn outside of what humans program it to do could easily outpace us. It makes sense, right? Humans are just complex, adaptable computers. Some day you'll be able to program something similar.
Honestly it seems like you're trying to talk down to us from the perspective of a programmer in the present, when we're discussing the potential of computers in the future.

Yes, software also obviously works this way. You clearly have a doctorate in Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Psychology. Thank you for your brilliant statements about teenagers who fap to tentacle porn.

It would, but it must have some way of telling which idea is the lesser, more moronic one.

Okay now you're just being arrogant. I don't give a shit what kind of degree in programming you have, that doesn't give you the right to pretend you know everything about how computers will work in the next 10-100 years. Have a look at IBM's Watson computer. It takes information in human-readable form, and formats it in a way it can understand. That's a huge step towards computers that can teach themselves. I can only imagine what they'll be like in the future.

I was gonna try and have an intelligent discussion with you about different types of programing languages but you're probably too excited about just graduating some C++ course at high school that you're too cool to accept other forms of programing. You hardly know what you're talking about so piss off.
Also, what kind of weapons will they use anyway? My guess is probably what they use in mass effect.

If they have the ability to generate a solution to the need of extermination they probably won't even need weapons. They could probably just have us kill each other with deception and injection of false information.

Or they'd just make airborne super AIDS.
Although, as long as we just leave them alone they probably wouldn't go all "kill all humans" on us, unless we got in their way or were using up resources they needed. It's illogical to just exterminate because we're there.

Human Immersion into computers.

What the fuck are you talking about? We already have a computer which can answer jeopardy questions with passable accuracy that works in a way that I presume would be similar to how the geth would work. IBM's "Watson" has multiple processes which search for the answer to a question, and return with options and their certainties. It attempts to make a decision based on which answer came up the most and with the most certainty among the different processes, and then presents the consensus. Why is the idea of having multiple processes sharing data in order to reach a more accurate conclusion than a single process could, such as how the geth work, such a far fetched idea?

If you're talking about cyborgs basically, it's probably what will happen for a while. But eventually our cyborg descendants are going to realize the technological components are far superior to the biological components, and just replace them completely.
I don't think there will ever be a defining point at which humans went extinct. Only a slow evolution into a purely technological species.

I don't know what makes you doubt this. By your logic, computers shouldn't be able to perform arithmetic any more complicated than the smartest mathematician, but they already can. The calculator that you use in school every day and even the computer that you're sitting in front of right now are perfect examples of this. Why would a computer not be able to exceed human capabilities in other ways?
If computers ever become sentient I hope we treat them like they are.
