If you look at how the box is wrapped, the top flap was always opened, it's not like they taped the box shut and if the dog was desperate to get out it could totally get out. I think they boxed it up minutes prior to giving it to her.
They even said "pull it on the bow" and you can see the flap lift, the only thing holding it down is thin wrapping paper.
