As most of you know, i'm a cop guru. I am going to school to become an officer and are actively volunteering in my local community for the past 4 years through the Law Enforcement Exploring program.
In July, as we all know, there was a shooting inside a theater screening the new Batman Movie in Aurora, CO. I, and my department, were just an hour away from the site of the shooting and could've easily been in that theater when the shooting happened. When we heard about the shooting that took place, we quickly formulated a plan to raise money strictly for the victims' families of the shooting.
We were short on time when we did all this. It was the last day of the conference (Nationals) and everyone was doing recreational activities. We got some support from the board members of the conference, supplying us with water, a tent, and some posters. We are forever thankful for those who helped us that day.
--
In short, we panhandled for over 8 hours that day collecting any and all money (besides checks due to us being out of state people). At the end of the day we drove all the way to Fort Collins Police Department to count the money. And there was a lot of it, but what made this whole thing terrible was that we had to sort and hand count all the bills and change. (you will see photos of the counted bills in evidence bags in the video). The video says we raised $5,800 which is what we counted by hand, but when brought to the bank, it was closer to $6k.
After returning home I had to do an interview for a local TV station, WCCO.
This is the video. Yes, thats me talking, and yes, thats my real name.
[sp]I ask for you to be respectful of that[/sp]

That is fucking awesome that you guys did that. Good on all of you.
Good on you guys. I wish there were some programs like that around me, those are some good opportunities if that's where your interests are.
Hi Drake. If ThermalArc were here he'd call you a pig, but what you did is great!

?
By "going to school to become an officer", do you mean majoring in Criminal Justice? If so, that major doesn't help at all in terms of getting hired.
Just asking because I see a lot of people thinking a CJ degree = job as a police officer.

Law Enforcement actually

Law enforcement agencies care less about what degree you have as long as you have a clean background. I'm sure you know that if you're doing all those explorer programs, though.

Its all about volunteering, being well-rounded, confidence, and being able to speak. Its really hard though to get a job right now around here, its about 300 applicants for one job.

Yeah, some places can even have a thousand+ applicants. Military experience will put you way up at the top of the applicants list. Don't do dergs, don't get any tickets for traffic violations, etc. Even a single experimental puff of doobies will be a blemish and will lower chances and you don't want ANY. The lie detector test is what gets everyone, I think. If you lie once, it's an automatic disqualification and basically no other place would consider you with a DQ somewhere else.

How's that work? Do they ask you questions and you have to respond to them a certain way or else you get put into a category of mental illness? Or are you put in a scenario?

Basically they stick you in a small room with this test and a pencil. Its like a 1000 question inventory. After you finish, a psychologist analyzes it and writes a report on you. They use this to identify possible people who may go awol or just dont meet the picture of the department.
Questions range from sexual preferences, to "do you play with your poop"

Do they throw in a lie detector afterwards to ask whether or not you lied on certain questions? I could imagine it would be kind of easy to respond a certain way that would be more favorable to the psychologist.

They'll know if you lied on questions. They will ask you the same questions 2 / 3 times throughout the test.
And, to my knowledge, some places DO a polygraph but not everyone. If they thought you were lying on something, they will find out through your friends, family, neighbors, past girlfriends, work, etc.
Gonna be honest, I was kind of expecting you to be the black guy.
Gonna be honest, I was kind of expecting you to be the black guy.
Sorry.
Gonna be honest, I wasn't expecting to you be such a suave, sexy mothafucka. Manliest man of the men. I'd let you detain me any day <3
No homo.
God damn you're handsome.
I now want Areolop to dub a bunch of the cop lines from San Andreas.

That sounds terrifying.
I'd end up writing multiple answers for the poop question and they'd ask everyone I know about it.
