He broke his one rule. http://channelawesome.com/nostalgia-critic-jurassic-world/ Youtube will be up whenever the DVD/Blu Ray comes out. I think. Edit: Well, in the middle of watching the video right now. This is...different from what the Critic usually does. Funny. Edit2: Wait, he really IS going through the entire movie. ABANDON SPOILER VIDEO!!
I love how he says the kids aren't that bad, 'it's just the adults that are stupid' and then a minute later he says they're written like dumbasses. Real smooth.
Never thought to see NC do a movie that just recently came out in theatres, pretty good video too.
Agree, but for me since I do plan on seeing it, I'm skipping out despite me reaching the halfway point already. I'm still good I think because most of what I saw is about how the CG is really hokey.
maybe i'm blind but i don't remember the cgi being that bad
maybe i'm blind but i don't remember the cgi being that bad
I feel like that just because the CGI is obvious, that doesn't mean its bad.
Lol, he ends the review by calling it boring, save for the climax. Honestly, I find that kind of impressive.
maybe i'm blind but i don't remember the cgi being that bad
It really wasn't that bad at all. It wasn't utterly amazing, nor was it obvious, but it did the job just well and looked good in the process.
Well, he kinda warns that the review is TOTALLY not BIASED because of the movie studio being a bunch of jackasses about fair use. Also, never thought I would laugh at a Nostalgia Critic skit but those reenactments were actually pretty funny, the one with kids rolling the hamster ball with the older one just sitting in a chair made me laugh.
Never thought to see NC do a movie that just recently came out in theatres, pretty good video too.
Yeah it's pretty good so far, although when he gets to the water-grow dino toy analogy he does get a bit too screechy again. But apart from that, it was a pretty neat review and an interesting spin on the usual Nostalgia Critic formula.
Nostalgia Critic should'nt he just call him self Critic then
Towards the ending of the review is pure gold.
I really expected a few times that his head just explodes.
No footage was kind of strange, it's nice to see him not relying on playing short clips of people in the film being stupid. It kind of worked.

He couldn't rely on film footage, it was interesting seeing. [editline]25th June 2015[/editline] I guess he kind of relies on his interns playing make believe.
YouTube version for anyone that's interested.

[editline]25th June 2015[/editline] I guess he kind of relies on his interns playing make believe.
oh, sorry. was looking at the first part where you said it was strange, :v:. but yeah, this review was better than his last. mainly because his interns copying scenes were funnier than his last skits.
Doug was alright back in 2008-2009, but his reviews have been shit since then. Six years of him pushing dumb/unfunny gags and flailing his arms around like an idiot.
I sort of agree with his CGI gripe. The CGI wasn't bad. I just never got the feeling that there were actually dinosaurs there. Just for comparison Animatronics Obvious CG I know which one looks 100 times more terrifying.
So after coming back from the film in Imax, all I can say is that I pretty much disagree about most of Doug's points. Sure it's CGI, but I never got the feeling that they were never there; the people interacting with some of the props make them come to life. I think this might have to do with CGI blending in with the animatronics, but that's what Yoda was back in the original trilogy, and he never griped about that. I did have a bit of a beef with the older brother with the fact that all he wanted was to pork some girl then go to a park with freaking DINOSAURS! Little kid was fine, he's pretty much the audience surrogate who gets wrapped up in all of the park's attractions and dangers. Owen and the park owner individually are fine too. The a-holes are a-holes and get eaten like a-holes. The only thing I can agree with the Nostalgia Critic is that ending is so amazing that it has to be seen to be believed. Overall, it's everything I could ask for in a Jurassic Park sequel. Jurassic World gets a 9/10 from me.

Just for comparison Animatronics Obvious CG I know which one looks 100 times more terrifying.
You can make an animatronic dinosaur look great in still shots, but as soon as it moves, the realism is completely gone. What stood out to me (in a good way) was how wonderfully animated the Jurassic World dinos were. So even if they do look a little bit less realistic than the old puppetry, they definitely felt a lot more alive and present in the world. I know a lot of people probably have this same sort of story, but Jurassic Park has been such a big part of my life that I thought that I was going to be inevitably let down with Jurassic World. JP was the first "adult" movie I remember watching as a toddler. I saw JP2 in theatres when I was 5 (probably not the best idea in hindsight, as it gave me raptor-related nightmares for years). Then came the 14 year wait between JP3 and JW. I was so pleasantly surprised with how self-aware Jurassic World is that I saw it 3 times in IMAX during its opening week, and I'll probably see it at least one more time before it leaves theatres. I just can't get enough dinosaurs in my life.
His comments at the end remind me of peoples' complaints about the 2014 Godzilla movie. In the case of Godzilla, it was following the same formula as many of the other Godzilla movies. In the case of this movie, it's a huge entry in one of the biggest Hollywood franchises to date. It had to take itself a little seriously, considering how absolutely fucking massive the budget is, and it had to make sure it had enough action for the lowest common denominator of film goers to stay interested. I think it struck a reasonable balance between a silly B-movie and a serious, calculated suspenseful film. But that's where the problem lies I guess. It doesn't try to do anything spectacular simply because it has no room to. It needs to retain a PG-13 rating to make enough movie, but it also needs to be populated with enough action. This movie was so expensive that it couldn't take any risks that could end up causing it to not make enough movie. I guess it's very boring in that sense. Not in the sense that there wasn't enough action (I think there was plenty), but in the sense that it is something of an embodiment of the corporate side of Hollywood. [sp]I still think it's pretty fun though. If you don't have enough patience for the less actiony sequences in this movie, then I don't see how you could have watched the first movie.[/sp] P.S.: don't watch this in 3D if you're worried about the CG not looking realistic enough. It didn't look that great in 2D, but, in my experience, 3D only makes it worse and it adds nothing to the film.
