I don't know the general opinion of Zero Punctuation or Yahtzee on Facepunch, despite being here since 2009. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/6364-Borderlands-2 I personally think that Yahtzee is entertaining, and mostly right. With the exception of this; I haven't gotten bored with Borderlands 2, I very much like it. The stuff that he said as a disadvantage I see of as an advantage, I like looting the area, I like comparing guns, I like the quirky, somewhat stupid, humor.
I hate that you can't track multiple quests, that's a good point. Do a quest, go back and turn it in and realize that you just missed three others in the same area. He also has a good point about opening each individual chest, while I disagree with putting them in one large trough. I think the devs should have done something where holding E opens multiple chests just like grabbing all the ammo in a chest.
I got bored at level 8. I don't usually agree with Yahtzee but he was spot on for this game.
I got bored at level 8. I don't usually agree with Yahtzee but he was spot on for this game.
I think he's usually spot on, but he does exaggerate how bad games are for the comedic value.
I have a feeling I would agree with most of his points if I hadn't had so much fun playing with a friend. Most of the boredom in raiding bandit camps is absolved when you are doing it co-op in my opinion.
Borderlands is like Army of Two. The fun is in playing with a friend, not dicking around all by your lonesome.
That just goes to show how bad the game is then if you need to play with others to make it enjoyable.
I wouldn't put it that way. Like Alxnotorious said, the game is more designed around co-op than solo play.
That just goes to show how bad the game is then if you need to play with others to make it enjoyable.
I played through it single player the first time, and loved it. Admittedly, the first game dragged on your own, but its more enjoyable this time around.
Yahtzee is correct, as usual, just like he was totally right about Borderlands 1, but it doesn't make those games any less enjoyable for me. Yes, they're flawed but I'm still having a blast with them.
That just goes to show how bad the game is then if you need to play with others to make it enjoyable.
Thus football, hockey and pretty much any team-based game is bad? It's just that the game doesn't promote Coop in the "rules" way but rather in the way stuff is made to made your party communicate.
I know it might be a little extreme to suggest to most players but: I just remember them...
It's not about just remembering which quests are in an area though. I can remember the quests too, but having to switch quests so you can see where certain objectives are is annoying at times. I'm on the second playthrough on my main character and it's getting easier to remember where certain objectives are. The player shouldn't be forced into remembering objectives.
I got bored at level 8. I don't usually agree with Yahtzee but he was spot on for this game.
Play with friends. Then it's great fun
Borderlands is like Army of Two. The fun is in playing with a friend, not dicking around all by your lonesome.
Well none of my friends got it since they feel its boring (and I kind of agree considering how boring the first one was, even with friends)
I have a feeling I would agree with most of his points if I hadn't had so much fun playing with a friend. Besides, why wouldn't the SP be as good as the coop? Yeah, games can be more fun with friends, but it shouldn't be vastly better (and if it is you might as well make a coop only game at that point).
Borderlands is like Army of Two. The fun is in playing with a friend, not dicking around all by your lonesome.
Every game is fun with friends. Moonbase Alpha is great with friends because you can cock about with it, but nobody ever said that the base gameplay was fantastic.
I was playing Co-op Borderlands 2 with two friends, we managed to get to the bit where Rolands being held by some random robot and we left it because we were bored as fuck. It's a well made game it just is extremely boring with lots of badly implemented things (The menu on PC works quite well but on the xbox, holy shit).
ITT: people judging borderlands 2 without even playing it.
That just goes to show how bad the game is then if you need to play with others to make it enjoyable.
So by that logic battlefield 2 is therefor a terrible game.
ITT: people judging borderlands 2 without even playing it.
I played the original. Many times. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I played Borderlands 2 up to what I would be assume half way through the game. Bored the entire time. Please, don't give me that.
Most of these people who are judging the game are basing it off their experiences, so I'm pretty sure they've played it
So by that logic battlefield 2 is therefor a terrible game.
I think he means games where it's Singleplayer with optional Co-op.
I hate that you can't track multiple quests, that's a good point. Do a quest, go back and turn it in and realize that you just missed three others in the same area. If you have multiple quests in a zone they all show up on your map / minimap.

Please, don't give me that.
It's almost like people have different tastes in games i mean wow. I played borderlands 2 for 3 days straight and my eyes were glued to the screen and i loved every goddamn second of it. Same with the first.
You were level 8 and got half way through the game? You dont need other players, the game is just more fun with them than without. It's still very much enjoyable on your own.
I said I got bored at level 8. I continued playing the game because I fucking paid 60 bucks for it and I tried to get my money's worth out of it.
It's almost like people have different tastes in games i mean wow. I was just saying that you trying to invalidate my opinion by saying I didn't play the game was wrong.
You dont need other players, the game is just more fun with them than without. It's still very much enjoyable on your own.
I just think it's boring and not enjoyable without other players.
im glad im not the only one bothered by the plot being the same as the first game. i was still just as bored here as i was in borderlands 1 and the characters just weren't well written. they're written to be stereotypes. someone in another thread said "that shouldn't bother you because they're SUPPOSED to be written as just stereotypes" but that doesn't make good writing, and it doesn't make them interesting characters to interact with, with how little you actually interact with them.
I just think it's boring and not enjoyable without other players.
I played it alone, and had tons of fun. But maybe I'm just used to playing alone, I don't think I've ever played a coop game with another person.
