Here is a documentary on a special penitentiary, where pedophiles are taken out of the jail system and placed here to be warehoused or rehabilitated. The documentary is done by the BBC with Louis Theroux, who has done a fantastic look into the Westboro Baptist Church in a previous documentary.
While this documentary is old, I do believe most people have not seen this before and hopefully this might interest someone.

oh yeah i went there
I didn't like the interviewer either, he seems to be rubbing it in.
you guys just can't appreciate proper journalism
you need to rub it in or else you won't get to the core of pedophilia
also i love how they used a joanna newsom song in this i'll forever associate pedophiles with joanna newsom
its actually hard to watch this. this isn't journalism, its a farce.
also hendrix
I think Louis Theroux is a genius interviewer. He knows how to reveal people while juggling emotions from sky rocketing. Besides, him "rubbing" it in to the pedophiles doesn't even remotely compare to the emotional damage they have done to their victims.

Farce is definitely not Louis Theroux style.
He walks around all smug with that "They all think they're normal" feeling in his voice. Hes a total fuckin' douchebag rubbing their crimes in their face like nobody had ever talked to them about it before. Some of those guys had been in there for years and now they have a camera and this idiot nitpicking everything about them.
I mean sure they're all pedofiles but i'm pretty sure they know that.,

are you insane
i don't condone pedophilia, but it's not like every pedo out there is a deviant kiddy fiddler
for some people it's just a backwards fetish
Goddamnit, I got into it without realizing it was an hour long.
Well, it was pretty interesting. I always thought Pedophiles were the most hated kind of criminals, a little too much in my opinion. It's wrong and can be mentally harmful to the children, but I think full-on child abuse or rape are much worse crimes. I mean, it is doubtful that most of those people will stay in that facility. Hell, that one guy had to literally [sp]castrate himself[/sp] in order to be let out, and even then he is having to wait due to a "pending" housing request.

Oh yeah, and Louis was a total dick when he was talking with Mr. Rigby. He immediately targeted him for being a pedophile and completely questioned his room decorations with the intent on getting him into trouble or something.

The journalist should never play this big a role in a subject documentary like this one. He was prodding in specific places that only a therapist has the sensitivity and skill to prod.
And no, you don't rub things in to get to the bottom. You rub things in to create animosity and tension. You need finesse to get to the bottom of something like pedophilia when you're dealing with the actual offenders. Something this guy lacked.
If I wanted to watch a guy going around creating drama and tension I'd watch a cop drama. At least it would be less cringe-worthy and more entertaining.

also you seriously read like a troll there thisispain, what the fuck

Exactly what I'm talking about. He was acting like a tabloid journalist with a softer demeanor.
The journalist should never play this big a role in a subject documentary like this one.
that's his style
it's got nothing to do with being a troll don't be ridiculous
that's his style
Well his style doesn't make interesting results. Almost everyone who opened up to him closed up right away because he got them in shit.
Yes I'm saying I could have made a more interesting piece than him.

And yeah it has everything to do with sounding like a troll, you say people can't appreciate proper journalism, something that takes finesse and the understanding of your role in information digging, and then contradict that and say you need to be really rough when asking questions or you'll never get to the bottom of things. That doesn't sound right.
"I was in for.. Date rape. ... Hey, you guys wanna try this drink?"
I chuckled :v:
I can without doubt say, even after watching this, that pedophilia is not a bad thing. I hold nothing against pedophiles. I do not even condemn underage sexual activity. I do condemn rape and force.
It just seems much like arresting gay people for being gay, neither can control it, though if they rape someone, yes they should be jailed.

it's more entertainment than anything really
After watching all that, it's amazing; those men were not idiots, they (for the most part) appeared to be quite intelligent with a large vocabulary. I wasn't expecting that to the extent that I saw.
Louis Theroux makes some good documentary's. im always interested in the things he is in
what the FUCK this one motherfucker got himself castrated..... WOW
Quite an interesting watch.
Louis is the best journalist ever. I've watched almost all of his documentaries.
They're being brainwashed into repressing their feelings? Now I know that they're pedophiles, but when I was forced to do that as a kid, it ruined my life. That's pretty fucked up if you ask me.
saw that on tv a while back
the cock ring test they do was mentioned in QI, I think :v:
"Are you a pedophile?"
"UM, WEELL THATS A CONTRAVISIAL SUBJECT"

i completely agree with you. this wasn't a documentary, it was the chronicling of one man fucking with pedophiles. he chose to focus on the reason people fear pedophiles (their crimes) rather than ways in which the system inhibits or facilitates their rehabilitation. a documentary shouldn't be about a journalist's take on something, it should strive to be objective, and to focus on other people.
and on top of that, it seems obvious to me that neither he nor the staff at this 'hospital' saw the 'individuals' as people, and that makes me sick. this entire piece was totally devoid of subtlety and empathy.
That was actually very interesting, surprising how hard it is to feel bad for pedophiles.
Dang, you guys really think Louis is out with an agenda. I'm pretty sure his questions are normal for a interviewer and him questioning the youth in the ballerina picture was warranted for the circumstance.
