Angry Joe puts fuck tons of effort into his videos and has been doing them for years, he 100% deserves a break if he feels like it.
He's got every right to "declare war" (lol) on the shitty segment of fans demanding he basically turns himself into a zombie for their benefit only.
these tards think 20-30 minute videos just fall out of joe's ass. maybe he's better off without them
I don't get it. There aren't a lot of big games coming out in the next couple of weeks. That seems like a pretty good time to take a break to me, especially since there's going to be a ton of shit from September on.
I think at least a small part of the problem may be YouTube's sub box (tho this is not a problem unique to YouTube). If you subscribe to a content creator, you subscribe to everything. You can't just subscribe to an individual playlist to receive only the content you're looking for.
So if you're only looking for one type of content while the content creator you're subscribed to is producing three or four different kinds, your inbox is gonna start filling up with stuff you don't care about. Every upload is gonna turn into a dice roll with mostly disappointing results. Eventually the sub becomes more hassle than it's worth.
At least that's what happened to me a couple times. Most of the people I'm subscribed to are either focused on a specific type of content that I enjoy, or they're so entertaining that they could be reading the telephone book and I'd still be hooked. I generally don't subscribe to (or have subscribed from) content creators that produce a mishmash or content I like and dislike, or that supplement "actual" videos with lots of algorithm filler.
Thankfully Patreon bucks can at least help some YouTubers avoid producing algorithm filler.

You can still add playlist to sideboard... but so many do not divide video into proper playlists, so it is horrible.
This is why I wish youtube has tag grouping, but of course it doesn't and tags are hidden.
I knew the comments section on a ton of Angry Joe's videos can be a bunch of greedy little shits, but I didn't realize they can go this far as to think they are entitled to reviews 3 kajillion times a month. Like holy crap Joe's one man behind the video creation process. He can't get to every game that comes out unless OJ, his gf, or Delerith also contribute too. The fact that it's the "AngryJoeSHOW" should make it very clear. He does interviews, demos, stream highlights promoting other games, etc. He's not just doing reviews like he did in the past.
I'm glad I'm still subscribed to him; he honestly does put out some good content every once in a while that's not a review.
I think the internet -- especially within the gaming community -- has become way more selfish and entitled than it ever has before. It just seems like every game that is slightly disappointing, or that gets delayed, or Youtuber who doesn't follow the demands of a vocal minority, sparks a huge controversy. I guess this is what happens when so much more content is available almost instantly; idiots with way too much free time on their hands seem to think that creating something is just as effortless as clicking on a video.
Holy fuck the entitlement in this situation is off the scale

from his fans that is
Also fuck all the twat youtubers attacking Joe for views and good on boogie for sticking up for him. Joe deserves better than this, especially since he never involves himself in drama and has always been 100% respectful to others on the site.
I feel like this was a part of the community that's been on a constant slow burn. Every time I go on 4Chan I always see one "Angry Jew" thread or mention. Now that they have no reason to stay committed to his channel, it's just, "Well your videos were shit anyway! We just watched you to be critical of you!"
Right before autistically screeching.
I've got a middle of the road opinion on this. Joe should be able to take a break without being persecuted. I used to be subscribed to Joe though, and almost every video I saw in my notifications was a movie review or a lets play. Things I wasn't subscribed to Joe for.
I don't think it's fair to attack him or demand different material from him. That said, I do wish he'd do something I actually care about.
I unsubscribed to joe because he never seemed to do reviews anymore. That's the correct response if you don't want to see it anymore. Not being a douchebag.

I agree - he could just do those things under separate channels and that would be nice.
I miss the rants, though - I also feel that the skits started out nice as first, then they went the Nostalgia Critic path of being unnecessarily long for the sake of a small payoff/gag.
-could be considered off topic snip-
I unsubbed because he rarely did reviews anymore and because when he DID do reviews, half of them were his overly drawn out skits. However, his reviews were genuinely pretty solid and he's an alright guy who doesn't deserve to deal with this shit.

I feel like skits killed a lot of my interest in the reviewers at Channel Awesome. They're just so unnecessary.

I think i dropped Linkara right around the time he started doing 6 minute long storyline segments at the start and end of every video.
I felt bad for unsubbing but i dont watch the movie or lets play, just reviews. I didnt even know there was people upset by this, i thought people had more respect for him.

Maaaan, Linkara. I used to watch him regularly but I didn't much care for the stories. I enjoyed the conclusion of the Entity arc though. I stopped watching my fave Channel Awesome peeps around the same time, after I kept putting off watching their videos too long to bother catching up. I tried going back just to watch Oancitizen but couldn't find his reviews...
Those CA people just really want to excerise some writing hands of their own.

He doesn't do that anymore from what I can tell. He has laid off story lines for the most part for now from what I've watched of his recent stuff.

The problem with their writing is that they assume the skills required to properly deconstruct and criticize a work of fiction translate directly to knowing how to construct a work of fiction.
Linkara is a good example of that clearly not being the case in that he can review a comic fine but wew can he not make one.

Also those fucking god awful anniversary movies.
This has been a wake-up call to Joe that a portion of his audience is fucking trash. He may have suspected it for awhile but this finally hit it home just how toxic a fanbase can get.
