I saw this commercial on a Chinese internet TV channel and took the liberty to rip off a copy from Youku
It could be CGI though since Rowan looks younger and there's a lot of suspicious camera angle
Still it would be nice to see him in a comedic role again, Mr Bean is a huge childhood hero of mine
Welp, that's me rewatching all of Bean at once.
i bet he did it for his own entertainment :v:
i dont even, i doubt any chinese would know of mr bean

The CGI, look and effects are very dated. I doubt they could CGI Mr Bean that well.
It's possible just an old commercial being re-run. On UK TV I see a lot of TV adverts that have been running since the 90's.
Such a dumb comment.
well excuse me for fucking thinking that a show that talks in english wouldnt be very popular in china, or that slapstick humor would be a thing over there
well excuse me for fucking thinking that a show that talks in english wouldnt be very popular in china, or that slapstick humor would be a thing over there
because voice-over dubbing the very few characters that talk would be a complete impossibility right
Most Snickers commercials today use celebrities for those "You're not you when you're hungry." I just wouldn't expect to see Rowan Atkinson reprise his role for a Chinese commercial of all things.
That's why he was at London 2012. The lack of dialogue in the show means I think it was sold to every territory around the world.

slapstick is probably the simplest form of humor in existance, why would you assume that
all of you need to calm down
Except Mr Bean barley speaks. He mumbles a few words now and again but that's about it. Mr Bean has been sold to 94 countries so it must translate pretty well to non English speaking countries. It doesn't need dialogue, it's more visual.
Also if the Chinese didn't know who Mr Bean was why would a global brand like Mars use Rowan Atkinson.
there are other people in mr bean that actually talk though, and sometimes you need to know what theyre saying to get a joke? ive just never thought he was that popular outside of britain and america, jesus fuck.
because voice-over dubbing the very few characters that talk would be a complete impossibility right
and there has to be a demand for the show first.

because its been steadily dropping off in use in favor of other forms of humor for years?

I don't think it's an older commercial. The "you're not you when you're hungry" ad campaign wasn't around in the 90's. I think that thing started about a year ago.
Does it even matter if Rowan Atkinson did an advertisement in China? Oh right, it doesn't.
The commercial was pretty funny :v:
when he ate the snickers he should have turned into jackie chan

I'm pretty sure ur anime picture doesn't speak any english, but she's certainly popular with you
shut in alert
I don't get why this only aired in China. All they have to do is add subtitles and change all the text to english or whatever language and it'd still be funny.
I think it's pretty dated i mean if you look at him here compared to say.....recent top gear...he looks considerably younger.

unless china's been running this ad campaign longer than other places it would be difficult for it to be that dated

It's a really great ad campaign. I really like the Joe Pesci one.
reminds me of that entourage episode about chinese/japanese ads that pay hollywood actors handsomely for one day's worth of work
