One thing I love about pikmin is how it feels painful when your pikmin die unlike losing units in other rts games.
It makes you care a lot more about them.

There's 4 captains total actually. All of them new characters as well, Olimar is nowhere to be seen.

I agree on the new characters being family of the previous heroes, in fact I'm pretty sure the kid is Olimar's son.
And yeah I'm sure that's why he was letting the pikmin get eaten, but it's still nerve-wracking watching it happen, how those fucking bear bulborbs just fling the pikmin into the air and eat them... Nnngh. I really hope the sprays make a return, encase those bastards in stone

And the exploration is amazing in these games.

I've never played any of them, I have to say though, the environments and the gameplay look really cool. I may pick up 1 and 2 to try soon.

Second one was collect treasure with louie and shit cause the company olimar works for went in debt and they realized earth was full of treasure(our trash) but then when you reach the goal you fly off, olimar accidently forgets louie so olimar and president go back to find louie.
Third i'm guessing they figure out earth is an endless treasure trove and you playing as 4 captians get more stuff to get more moolah.

The second one you collected treasure to pay off a debt, if I remember right. Golden carrots were stolen I believe and Olimar with his new partner Louie set out to get stuff to pay it off.

I hope you can still make your Pikmin move manually like you could with the C-stick on Gamecube in this one, I didn't see him use it once

You might be able to using the Gamepad, but when you use the Wiimote set up you lock on to things and shake the nunchuck to swarm things
Louie lied about the golden pikpik carrots. Also I think he died or something.
This apparently takes place years later so that is why we don't see Olimar, could be wrong.
