It's going to do this eventually:
What's the advantage of the final stage landing with rockets instead of just using a parachute?
Then they'll be able to restack, refuel, and recrew, and relaunch. Expendable rockets and parachutes are for suckers. [editline]22nd April 2013[/editline]
What's the advantage of the final stage landing with rockets instead of just using a parachute?
Well the rockets it uses to do that are there anyway to act as a launch escape system just in case something goes wrong during launch. The capsule can jettison. So if you're carrying the fuel up anyway I guess why not? I'm not really sure if it has any real advantages other than being totally awesome and not having to deal with repacking a parachute afterwords. All you'll have to do is refuel and you're good to go.
SpaceX plans to use an integrated pusher launch escape system for the Dragon spacecraft, with several claimed advantages over the tractor detachable tower approach used on most prior crewed spacecraft.[93][94][95] These advantages include the provision for crew escape all the way to orbit, reusability of the escape system, improved crew safety due to the elimination of a stage separation, and the ability to use the escape engines during the landing phase for a precise solid earth landing of the Dragon capsule.[96] An emergency parachute will be retained as a redundant backup for water landings
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_%28spacecraft%29#NASA_Commercial_Crew_Development_program Not to mention you could technically land it on any solid surface in the solar system.
That's actually a really impressive and accurate landing. I've got a good feeling about this company for the future of space exploration.
Giant vibrators in spaaaace!
is this the future? It looks like the future. I think that we are in the future now.

Wait, the flame creates shadow. I didn't know flames create shadows.
I was hoping to see a grasshopper in space. But this is cool too.
That was amazing
Wait, the flame creates shadow. I didn't know flames create shadows.
Flames = glowing smoke. Stuff that glows still make a shadow, imagine a glowing ball of metal for instance.
Your moms dildo
The amount of times I've tried to hover in place with a rocket in Cortex Command. This shit's impossible.
wow my post I made in another thread applies here too: space dicks
