Honestly as dangerous as it might be, just goes to show how easily it is to trust the autopilot on these things
Uh, are you not allowed to sway your head for 3 seconds in excitement?
I don't see how this is really "dangerous." maybe mildy concerning if that's all she did for a long time without watching the road.
All this did is make me want autopilot more.
I don't get how this is so bad.
She jazzhanded for 3 seconds, them went straight back to looking at the road. Probably because the autopilot asked her to put her hands on the wheels.
She did close her eyes as well, while taking a bend in heavy traffic on a freeway. The software is officially still in beta as well.

Most drivers could probably do this without autopilot....
Didn't they divorce?
Didn't they divorce?
They are in the process of divorcing for the third(?) time.
tbh I'd probably be doing this if my jam came on too.

Right, they never filed that last one.

to be honest sometimes i find myself almost dozing off in heavy traffic
autopilot would be a blessing for me, a 30 second nap is all i need to continue proper driving(i've pulled off the freeway and parked somewhere for a few minutes just to snooze whenever i've had a long-ass day)

As good as Autopilot is, I don't think you should trust it to drive you around while you're napping lol. At least not until they come out with the fully autonomous hardware suite.

Oh definitely not, but in case of emergencies, autopilot could save your life and your car as well. I'm a diagnosed mild narcoleptic, and my pills have a terrible side effect of giving me anxiety and making me pissed for no reason at times. I can get by 99% of the time without any problems as long as I eat/sleep fine, but we all have those days.
I'd love for autopilot safety features(eg, emergency brake) to be embedded on all cars by default.

In the US 20 automakers have agreed to have automatic emergency braking in all their new cars by September 2022. In a Tesla that and the side collision avoidance should work even without Autopilot turned on.
Hopefully we are only a couple of years out from a full autonomous hardware suite being available.

Oh I know.
It's called using my knees.

You know realistically highway driving isn't that dangerous unless someone does something stupidly erratic. Closing your eyes for a few seconds isn't going to increase your chances of a crash drastically if the lanes are driving smoothly.

I do drive. Driving on the highway is usually fine but at that speed if something happens you might have to react pretty quick.
Dude, I set one of my seat profiles as a full on recliner mode that I activate whenever I turn on autopilot. Jazz hands ain't shit.
why is that person's mouse on the screen in the video? sort of annoying.

As it so happens, there's quite a few stupidly erratic drivers on the highway.
I find it funny because Musk generally doesn't approved of people waving their hands around like that and not watching the road when auto drive is on. I seem to recall him saying he saw videos of people doing stupid things with auto drive and announced an update to limit it. Well I guess this is what lead to the second divorce.

He meant people who were doing REALLY stupid stuff with it. One dude activated it then climbed in the back seat.
If they had autopilot for motorcycles, I could become a mechanical centaur.

He's also said he uses it to read emails so...

Context of that was stop and start traffic I believe rather than on the highway. Stop and start traffic you can trust it more since less crazy things can happen quickly, as well as being able to track the car in front with the sonar.
In the OP video the lines are completely faded, sun is low in the sky and the car is turning towards it, too far away for sonar, and it's at an angle so radar won't work well or at all.

It's hard to tell for sure but looking at the instrument display the car can't even see the car in front of it.
