Guy posted test stuff earlier this yeah, this is a more finished level.
Apparently all the animations were done from scratch based on legend/anniversary.
He plans to release a demo by the end of the year (if there's no DMCA first).
The difference between the environment and Lara is so weird
Lara had an uncanny cartoonish look still that I was hoping he'd slowly work on removing.
Think the lack of actual shaders and detail on her is whats doing it, plus some of the proportions are a bit funky, I don't exactly remember her being twig thin for example.
I think it's just the lighting being incomplete for dark areas. The model looks far better when exposed to a lot of light. See this

Ends in a dark area too so it really highlights how odd the body looks in caves and whatnot. Probably a matter of wonky subsurface scattering.
he used the good lara model too instead of making her the gritty, no-fun allowed reboot.
Lara's more stylized appearance is meant to be more reminiscent of the older TR games, from what I understand. She's meant to be a 'larger then life' character who stands out.
Also from what I've read, Nicobass managed to recreate the animations from TR Anniversary from scratch:

I certainly wouldn't mind an old-school Tomb Raider after the turn the series has taken recently.

Not that I disliked the last 2, but I'd love some "real" Tomb Raider again.
Is it an unpopular opinion that I really, really like the new Tomb Raiders (having been a bit young to ever get into the old ones)? I mean, I get that they're not super Tomb Raider and maybe more Uncharted/Far Cry but I really enjoyed the first and the second is shaping up to be even better. For starters the game has refined just about every mechanic the first had and it's fucking gorgeous on ultra at 60fps.
I remember Yahtzee referring to Rise of as "middle of the road tosh" but I really think it's an exceptional game. But then, he hates Uncharted too, and just about everything else so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Then again, I do have similarly impossibly high standards.
Tomb Raider 2 is one of my favourite games of all time. I grew up with the tomb raiders series and I remember my mum letting me miss a day of school just to play Tomb Raider 3 when it came out.
I'm super glad someones remaking TR2, but I'm worried squeenix are going to stomp it with a DMCA, it's only a matter of time really, but I really hope that doesn't happen.

Yeah understand what they're going for, but the model he's made just looks a bit off and not all that accurate, her waist is incredibly thin compared to the rest of her and even on the older games and even in that video from anniversary, you can see its nowhere near as thin as how he's got her.
It looks looks off and really excessive of the hourglass shape.
The grunt/yell after every jump seems like it would get pretty annoying.
If it does get DMCA'd, I could see the creator going a route of creating their own IP rather than relying on Lara Croft since the gameplay mechanics are not exclusive to Tomb Raider thankfully.

I feel like all classic games are gonna get rebuild ue4.
That looks awesome btw.

That sums up old school Lara perfectly. The debates about her proportions never stopped. I grew up on TR2 and that model is exactly as I remember it. Personally, I hope he doesn't make it more realistic, it will mesh perfectly with the retro atmosphere.
