To US it's weird.

I agree, to them it's pretty damn weird we don't all censor our porn, and that we eat our fish even after they've been dead for a week.
It always weird, when a white dick is bigger than the black one.

honestly i don't think you can really complain about someone thinking a festival revolving around a huge pink dick is weird
sure it's annoying when people shit around like 'wow lol japan so weird' but this is undoubtedly pretty fucking weird on it's own

Japan celebrates penises traditionally?
Saw this on The Moaning of Life, knobs everywhere.
so does half the world
which half?
which half?
Majority of cultures that traditionally hold masculinity or signs of fertility including the male genitalia as dear. Asia, some parts of Europe, The Middle East, Africa, India, etc.

I don't know, I thought that at first but after reading why it seemed pretty reasonable to me. Just a culture that doesn't shame phalluses.
Why aren't any of the penises blurred out?!
I don't think it was a traditional thing about fertility or whatever in the first place.
All you have to do is read
The local festival was first held by prostitutes to pray for business prosperity and protection from sexually transmitted diseases. It is now celebrated as a tourist attraction to raise money for HIV.

Someone should start adding a tiny black line to them.

I still wonder how long that law will stay around over there

Haesindang, also known as Penis Park.
Isn't it weird that in America you can't show a penis on TV regardless of context sexual or not?

Trust me, they think a lot of the shit we have is weird.
For instance, I freaked out one of the Japanese people accompanying us while we went through Japan by explaining what Cthulhu was.

Well, I mean the whole point of Cthulhu is to freak people out. It's not really specific to the Japanese I imagine.

You forget that a lot of Lovecraft has become staple for weird. Most of his work doesn't freak out Western audiences to nearly the same degree. It's not specific to Japan but they have their fair share of unexplainable things.
Just generally they were weirded out by our folklore and myths.
