A fanfilm presented as a History Channel documentary about the Four Years War between the Federation and Klingon Empire
This looks like it could be pretty interesting.
"Kharn" really makes the 40k fanboy in me giggle
The feature film will shoot at the end of the year for an early 2015 release
That was very professional and well done, loved how they got a lot of Trek veterans on board to act.
Really well done. It looks very professional
wow that modelling is amazing! very nice.
I wonder if there's enough love for battlestar out there to get the same treatment.
I can't wait for the full movie. I also can't see Tony Todd without thinking of Kurn and Vortigaunts :v:

It's funny seeing Martok and Kurn as humans instead of Klingons.
I'm curious to know which timeline this takes place in.

Prime universe timeline, I think it's an EU thing that isn't canon however.
It's still fucking awesome though!

It takes place in the "Prime" timeline, but they used some JJ Verse inspired ship designs designs, but made them look more TOS.
The story is slightly inspired by the old Star Trek FASA tabletop RPG source book. They use some of the same ship names, and even going to use a design from it in the full movie.

Actually some of those ship designs weren't really inspired by JJs Star Trek, the blueprints for some of those ships existed way before that movie.

A couple of them only existed in the JJ movies. The one with 2 nacelles and 2 engineering sections, I've never seen that outside of the new movies.
A couple of them yes, existed before the JJ Movies, but the ones in this are clearly based on the JJ versions of them, they all have USS Kelvin styled hull textures and weapons.
This might be the first Kickstarter I pledge to.
Tempted to go to the $250 level just so I can have my face as a dead person.

Prime universe, 21 years before TOS: "Where No Man Has Gone Before", the second original pilot

I can't be arsed to trudge through the Internet tonight, so I'll just defer to whatever.

It's more of a mix of styles like you said, which I rather like.

Yes, the design style for the ships are a mixture of TOS designs, and JJTrek designs as well.

Yeah, I see it now.
I rather like that, the mixture of both styles is quite nice.

It makes sense if you think about it, the USS Kelvin existed before Nero's incursion in the first JJ Movie, so it existed in the Prime Universe as well.

Yes, in fact the Kelvin was originally the U.S.S. Iowa and born from this concept sketch:

I'm glad they changed the name though, calling it the Iowa would have been a little too much on the nose.
