I've never seen such a jumpy cat. I wonder why it stays in the room.
I dunno, the jump sounds seem a bit too well timed. Funny, though.
bah, I didn't say it was fake. I'm just saying the cat jumps with little delay from the jump sound. Besides, it wouldn't detract from the video if it were faked anyway.
cute cat, and I love that rug too :v:
looks like a fox
Not scared, just playing along.
Holy shit, look at that tail.
Literally has it's hairs standing up
I never laughed that much in a while! The timing just made it so much better!
There's something under the rug. Look at 48 seconds. I don't think the cat is jumping because of the Mario jump noise.
From youtube comments:
"People- the cat is being intentionally startled by some sort of remote controlled device beneath the rug. It's a little difficult to see due to the low resolution of this video, but you'll notice the cat is staring directly at something moving beneath the rug. Look where the cat is looking each time he jumps (e.g. .28, .35, .41, .48, .58, 1:10, etc) and you'll see a brief, localized disturbance in the rug. Mystery solved. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Mario-jump sound effect.*"
Glad to know I wasn't just seeing things in the video. Even then, the cat was staring at the carpet the entire time so I'm not sure why anyone would think this is legitimate considering it never looked at the speaker once. :v:

The rug moves because the cat is leaping up off it.

You can even hear it make a click sound when it goes off.
I still laughed pretty hard anyways.

People don't realise how good of a reaction cats have.
Also they have CLAWS and when they jump, the claws pull on things.
but why was he looking at the carpet?
how dumb IS that cat?

Or you've never seen a cat being startled before.
I'm 90% sure it's the cats claws being stuck to the carpet... When cats are startled, they stick their claws out.

The cat jumps when it's not on the carpet at the very beginning.
that's almost like my cat and the sound of a ukulele. She damn near pisses herself every time she hears it; recorded or live.
There's definitely something under the carpet that's causing the cat to jump. If you fullscreen it at the highest quality, it's really easy to see.
It's still hilarious though.
Just because the cat it mostly looking at that one little area on the carpet, I believe that it is probably faked but still funny!
Cats have very good hearing and would be able to pinpoint where the noise was coming from (speakers on top of desk) instead of looking at the carpet. The cat jumping probably did play in a part in pulling the carpet up a bit too though.
Looks like it's claws are getting stuck in the carpet when it jumps. Some cats (like mine) do that a lot.

First jump, the cat isn't on the carpet.
MYTHBUSTED.
You know some people have these crazy ideas that actually trim the cats claws.

i think its the cat pulling up on the rug with its claws when it jumps.

The first time the cat jumps he isn't on the rug, yet the rug still pops up. Look closely. Its right near the white horse thing.
you are right. faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaake
asians invented a game where you can control your cats before it was cool
