I'd love to see some Journey screenshots in 10K. Unfortunately, Journey isn't working on the emulator (yet). Awesome stuff though
The moment I saw the armor on the character in Demon's Souls at 4K. Holy fucking shit. Just wow.
red...dead....pls.... cant stop thinking about that
red...dead....pls.... cant stop thinking about that
I need MGS 4 so badly, MGS 4 had such a bad framerate and still ended up looking low-res and gross on PS3, having it in a stable state on this emulator means I can comfortably play MGS 4 for once, because it's a nightmare to try it now on the PS3
Finally, we’ll be able to play Sonic ‘06 as god intended
Someone make a Persona 5 comparison video pls

oh god damn it, i just fucking bought these pants
It's crazy just how detailed From made the assets for Demon's Souls. You can't even see it at 720p.
It's crazy just how detailed From made the assets for Demon's Souls. You can't even see it at 720p.
The cups in Catherine-example is another example of this. It's a blurry mess on 720p but there's text and bubbles and reflections on them that you can only see at higher resolution.
I need MGS 4 so badly, MGS 4 had such a bad framerate and still ended up looking low-res and gross on PS3
MGS4's actual, serious resolution is 1024x768 in anamorphic widescreen. :what: It tries to hide it with anti-aliasing, but it just ends up being a very soft-looking game. It looked amazing to me back when the only HDTVs I had access to were tiny, but nowadays it looks so blurry on my 50". Can't wait to see pictures of it in true 1080p. Such a shame that it's never been ported to any other platforms.

They had to take a lot of awkward shortcuts that were rather understated at the time just to get it to run on the system, and while it was designed with the nightmare that is the Cell architecture in mind, it really could've benefited from a PS4 port for both the stronger hardware and the fact that game installs happen for just about every single game with the PS4 automatically, cutting a lot of problems involving that down.

PS3 unfortunately got the worst out of multiplat-games because of the Cell-processor, causing most multiplat-games to use like 1 core badly.
I'm amazed at how detailed the textures and models are in Catherine and Demon's Souls. It's like they wanted to future-proof.
Wow demon souls looked incredible.
I'm amazed at how detailed the textures and models are in Catherine and Demon's Souls. why do companies make such highly detailed textures if they're not even noticeable when rendered at 720p? is it purely for future proofing, or is it to try and eek out as much detail as possible to make 720p look less bad?
The moment I saw the armor on the character in Demon's Souls at 4K. Holy fucking shit. Just wow.
PS3 disks could have up to 50GB of storage, and developers were well aware of it it seems as so many games when dumped showed off some really, really fucking nice art. Either stupidly high resolution texture work (for the limited VRAM) or detailed as fuck models. I knew FROM did it in all the Souls games as the DS PC port is just a straight port with no asset changes, but running that at a native 1080 shows off the detail you lose to the native resolution. But I didn't think it was a thing in quite as many games. Hopefully RPCS3 can reveal some more sick ass art.

720p: How the game looks now 4k: How the game looked to me when I first got a PS3

If you made that armor low-res, you can't have any cutscene show a character from closer on, so it's simpler this way. Besides, even the player can get the camera stuck on a wall and see how low the textures are if they try. It's better to have normal-resolution textures all around.

Amazing how much optimization can do on consoles. MGSV runs noticeably better than MGS4 on PS3 (though comparitively shit to PS4/PC), looks better, and is at a higher resolution.

MGS4 runs at 1024 x 768 like he said MGS5 runs at a lower resolution of 992 x 720, not a higher res. https://forum.beyond3d.com/threads/list-of-rendering-resolutions.41152/
720p: How the game looks now 4k: How the game looked to me when I first got a PS3
Gotta love the nostalgia Goggles. Gets worse when you think of games you played when you were a kid, then you look at them now and think to yourself "This isn't what I played, it can't be!"
