I wonder how things are going to change over time. I mean it seems like most anime is aimed at teenagers, and does pander a lot, but it also seems like the anime audience is just starting to get older. When I was younger it seemed like all the 13 and 14 year olds were watching anime and talking about it nonstop on fuckin' Myspace and Gaia Online, but now, it seems like a lot of anime fans have become late teens early 20s adults and their tastes are probably going to change as a result. I don't know much about anime as an industry or anything like that but it makes me think maybe we'll see something similar to video games becoming more mature as the audience grew up? If that does happen, mature anime at least would probably become the norm so it adapted to the demographic. If not, then, well, shit, I don't know. But frankly I don't think anime as it is now can last long term. You can only make so much anime with high schooler tits front and center before it all just becomes white noise, and that's already happening as it is, especially since a lot of anime looks the exact same. Can you tell that they aren't even from the same anime and I just picked two random ones off a list of high school anime? I've likened anime to being this infinite cloud of random anime with random characters that all look like they're made on a fucking assembly line. What anime is it? It is Anime - the Anime where Anime characters do Anime. It really needs those stand outs like KLK, JoJo, Samurai Champloo, so on and so forth, if it's going to be worth anything. I guess no media can sustain it's current state forever, but I would reckon it's only so long the anime industry starts to feel the weight of over-saturating the market with generic shit, if that isn't happening already.
While I feel to agree with the OP's video, he has to realize that shit like this of "broad audience" really it hasn't changed much things, it's just peoples perspective. Don't care for this guy but he is 100% spot on
I can agree with this, just take a look at the new Dragon Ball http://kotaku.com/dragon-ball-super-looks-super-crappy-1723059211

I wish windows 10 didn't lose all my files but out side of the 3-5 cell animation pan shots, there were a LOT of bad animation errors.

Every episode before that looked fine and by the time the BR releases come out, you won't be seeing that on those, you'll have the quality that was expected from it. This happens a shitton too. Something will look rushed, people will complain about it, then when it releases on BR they'll have corrected everything because they're not working under a very tight deadline for TV release. afaik, there hasn't been another "incident" with DBZS since either.

Anime has always been mostly shit, we're just old and jaded enough to notice it now.
I wonder how things are going to change over time. Asking when anime is going to grow up is like asking when Loony Toons is going to grow up, it simply won't because they're just going to market for the next generation of youngsters.
was Zankyou no Terror supposed to be an example of a good original show? ...really?
Well theres plenty of non-highschool girl shows airing like right now...
Gangsta. is airing now and it's pretty good.

I'm getting real tired of people comparing slice of life or moe anime and going "can you tell the difference" as if it proves their point that modern anime is shit. People love shonen as a genre, so we have plenty of shonen, it's just that what you posted is more marketable to general audiences in Japan so you see it more front and center. Some out there like rom!com anime, some like slice-of-life, some want their action and there's markets for all of this that are all still going relatively strong. Quality varies per series and studio obviously, but it's just getting ridiculous how anti-moe some people get considering it damn well sells in both Japan and the otaku importers overseas for a reason.
I remember when I was 15 and had a lan party with my friends, there was a projector blasting the weirdest japanese hentai animes imaginable onto a nearby wall for two days and nights straight
The tragic orkel backstory
Bit too much highschool life shows.
this is why SoL, schoolgirls and all the other things associated with high school are so popular. I've watched western television aimed at adults and eastern television aimed at adults and its mostly been retarded. I've watched quite a few animated shows (western and eastern) made for 4-12 year olds that have been more mature than most animation/live action directed at adults.
Anime is a genre
oh
oh
Netflix logic
I remember when I was 15 and had a lan party with my friends, there was a projector blasting the weirdest japanese hentai animes imaginable onto a nearby wall for two days and nights straight
Shit, my lan parties "started" when 90% ppl were asleep and we raced each other betting more money each time one of us beat previous time

governments around the world need to fund more space brothers anime because space
OP's video forgot gintama objectively one of the best rides of anime you will ever have

Who ever own's the right to the Berserk Anime form needs to do OVA's with it because the movie's are wired ( and left out content from the manga ) and tv hey have to tone down gore,

And the reason anime is so closely linked to our age and cultural group in the west is the Internet. Fansubs are the only reason shows other than Pokémon and the like even got here, and they're heavily associated with Internet Culture™.

Also yes I could tell those were two different shows instantly, there are subtle but effective differences in the respective art directions. and anime did not just start existing this decade, man.
Honestly, I'm mixed and I'll just go with animes that I like instead of a Golden Age. Infact, the first anime I watched that wasn't like DBZ an' shit was Golden Boy. Trigun and Cowboy Bebop were specifically targeted toward Western Audiences, infact the Trigun movie was made because Western Fans asked for it.
