Figured I'd post this here as well Release for all the SPv3 maps leading up to the flood is November - December TSC:E is separate and will release on August 29th (The one in the video is the map using the SPv3 tagset, not the same as the august release)
Cool, is this like Black Mesa for Halo?
CMT is still around? Holy shit. I remember them from like 2007.
modding halo is what really got me interesting in developing shit for games. I'm really glad these guys are still around!
What is this
modding halo is what really got me interesting in developing shit for games. I don't really do any of that kind of thing anymore, but it was fun as hell when I was still doing that.
That music sounds really familiar, I could have sworn I heard it from something else.
Uhhh, what.
I actually do hear it. Its heavily redone, but I can definitely hear Mad World in it.
Just because it may share some of the same chord progressions does not make it the same song.
But he's not crazy. There is a similarity, but it is different enough that no, it isn't Mad World.
How the fuck did they make Halo CE look that good? [editline]20th July 2014[/editline] Also this really gets me excited for the PC release of Destiny. Imagine what people will do with that.
All the guns have a lot more kick in them. And I like it. Even the Plasma Rifle feels good in the video, didn't really like the projectiles looking all round like balls in the original CE.

Can't wait to play the final version. I have been friends with the UI and HUD artist for a few years and he got me into play testing. I got to play test The Truth and Reconciliation and The Silent Cartographer. Both were fantastic. Everything about them was perfect. Even the new weapons they added felt well balanced and just fit in so well.
Nothing like this probably. Look at the Xbox mods for Halo 2, 3, ODST, Reach, 4, etc.
I wish they would implement stuff from the books.
OMG, This is perfection! :D the needler looks even more beautiful that halo 3 and 4 , i could not drop it and used it the entire level
Thanks for all the warm words guys, we all appreciate it. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Can't say I like what they did with the grunts since they look like something entirely different but everything else looks amazing considering how old that engine is. Some of that I wish 343i did with CE:A. It also looks like they gave the Pillar of Autumn a proper interior?
The grunts are a funny story, we wanted to make them look more alien and less cute, and then we lost the model around the time Reach was announced when they also wanted a more alien look. And yep, all the environments get all sorts of details, some people dislike the more colorless POA, but it really makes everything else pop and is a nice contrast to the exteriors later in the game, IMO.
modding halo is what really got me interesting in developing shit for games. I'm really glad these guys are still around!
Awesome to hear it's what got you started too, its really an accessible game to get into, so many different things you can do no matter what you are interested in.
What is this
It's a revamp of Halo 1, with the content of later games, books, comics, fan and cut bungie concepts, for Halo Custom Edition on the PC.
But he's not crazy. There is a similarity, but it is different enough that no, it isn't Mad World.
It's funny people keep saying this, I don't hear it but it's been a while since I've listened to Mad World. Perhaps we'll do a remixed mad world trailer sometime. The song is Autobots Reunited from the Transformers Age of Extinction EP.
I wish they would implement stuff from the books.
We do actually! The entire new area for the level Halo is inspired by the plotline where the marines are defending the base they have captured. There is also other stuff coming up we aren't ready to talk about... but the books are always in our mind.
OMG, This is perfection! :D the needler looks even more beautiful that halo 3 and 4 , i could not drop it and used it the entire level
If you like needlers, you will be very very happy indeed. I love needlers too, and we will have multiple needle based technologies in the mod.
Is this going to support co-op in any way so that friends or other FP-ers can do this on difficult?
I thought there weren't any brutes in the first Halo, due to, canonically, the Elites and Brutes being in separate fleets because they'd tear each other apart otherwise. Or am i wrong?
Unfortunately no, the netcode doesn't support it. Some people have been making progress towards split screen, and if that ever does work you can guarantee we will support it, or update it to support it.
I thought there weren't any brutes in the first Halo, due to, canonically, the Elites and Brutes being in separate fleets because they'd tear each other apart otherwise. Or am i wrong?
Cannon wise, they were always in the covenant but never got along. Our rational for having the mixed units is because Truth had planned to have the Brutes eventually turn on the elites, and wanted Brutes intermingled in the fleets so when the moment came, he could give them the order to kill the Elites and seize the ships. Similar to how in Star Wars the Emperor had the clone troopers in position to execute the Jedi. We're going to have a mission later in the game that will explain everything about Brutes and Elites and what and why they are doing together on the Halo ring. Edit: I should also add we have released a one hour trailer breakdown video, you don't even really need to watch it as much just listen to it, but for anyone interested it should reveal a lot to you about the mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olgQ6nnMwoM (apparently I am a fail at video tags :( )
A mod like this makes me wish I didn't lose my authorization code for the game year ago.
I recently finished playing trough Halo 1 again for pc, and I am completely fine to play trough it again with this mod. This looks amazing, didn't know there was people still modding Halo.
It's always great to get a reply back with extra info and an official opinion when giving comments on stuff like this. As far as the Pillar of Autumn goes, the new look looks like a way better fit but that's just going off of what's been shown. Given the story behind it with all the refits and being gutted to have a new engine quickly shoved into it just before Reach, you'd think the inside would be a complete mash up of new and old where everything looks like it's being held together with duck tape. Not sure if it's still being treated as a clown car but at least it'll all be fresh with what's been changed and added. Also not sure how true that comment about your sticking to the books, comics, and stuff will hold given how much story would need to be added and modified but it'd be nice for all the subtle cameos/nods to be in there at least. Seriously looking forward to this. [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] Since you're supposedly looking to take everything into account, assuming AotCR isn't far enough along yet, it'd be great if continuity between CE and 3's ring were at least glanced at and considered since having even small details suddenly change between games, for seemingly no reason at all, makes zero sense. (Supposedly they were copies of each other? Though 3's had an updated design that probably couldn't be pulled off in CE. It'd be a nifty connection to have but that probably doesn't justify the amount of work it'd take.) In the end it's down to where you people want to go with this but it looks like everyone went all out with updating everything.
Well we don't totally stick to the books/comics and such as a rule, but we draw a lot of influence and pick and choose what we think will be interesting for gameplay from it. As far as AOTCR, we try to preserve the original areas as much as we can while looping in new sections. So we won't be fixing that continuity error, as we'd have to replace a lot of the encounters for that section with custom ones, never mind 2 clashing architecture styles of H1 and H3 being merged together.
So is this only up until the Assault on the Control Room, or what? And how did people play this already?
TSC:E is separate and will release on August 29th (The one in the video is the map using the SPv3 tagset, not the same as the august release)
But why? And what is the difference?
