This is going to be okay.
It took me almost half of the video to realize this is about one of those DayZ mods which I guess moved to Arma 3. I don't know what to think about it. Why would you need a blueprint for a tent? Who is really that stupid that they can't feed a pole through a bunch of inlets on a pre-stitched tent? Those zombie animations are also pretty terrible. They look like the kind of walking animations you get from those old children's stop motion Christmas movies like the Rudolph or whatever, where they all walk around like they don't have working kneecaps. I never did like the DayZ mods, so I am fairly skeptical over what they are showing in this video, but I don't even understand why they were mentioning some bits. Why did they show bullet penetration? They even said that it was already in Arma 3, so what was the point? It seemed to me that nothing was fairly new or revolutionary in this dev blog. The only really new thing that I could extract from the video is that now the trucks look like they were pushed off a cliff. Can someone explain to me really... why? I understand its a zombie gamemode for Arma 3. Arma 3 hadn't had a new zombie gamemode made for it yet, and it was obviously bound to happen sooner or later, but why? Nothing really seems that new. Am I supposed to be wowed that they ported it to A3? Is this trying to cash in on the lack of DayZ on Arma 3? Hell, now that I think about it, what about that Zoombies thing? That is literally DayZ on Arma 3. That one was when A3 was still in beta, but it was terrible. It ran like shit and everyone was a prick. Why are we supposed to want more of this? I honestly tried to watch that video with a clear mindset, but I just don't really see the appeal. Can someone explain to me what I'm just not getting? Why?
This is going to be awesome. This is going to bury DayZ probably.
Why would it? This is pretty much just DayZ remade on the A3 engine.

But it looks like they are at-least trying to make a DayZ for ARMA 3 for the time that people can play until DayZ Stand-alone.
Forgive my bitter pessimism, but from what I see of it, it looks to me as though they are trying to take their special snowflake mod away from the rest of the other DayZ mods and toss it on Arma 3 in an attempt to get a leg up on the competition. The only DayZ mod I've tried is Origins, and I can't see anything this has that Origins didn't. Well, aside from the lack of the junkheap helicopters and no sign of those shitty prostitute female bandit skins, both are a huge plus in my eyes, actually. I don't know. I'll probably give it a try sometime just to see if my concerns are valid or not, but from this Dev Blog, I don't really see anything that really sells me a 'WOW!'.

Bah, Arma is so much more than a platform for zombie games. But I guess we can't escape the curse that took off with DayZ. Which is a shame since Arma is a lot of fun but not being able to play anything but stuff like this online sucks.
Why would it? This is pretty much just DayZ remade on the A3 engine.
Imo all DayZ needed was to be put onto the Arma 3 engine and it would be 60% better The biggest complaints that everyone seems to field (excluding bugs) are usually from Arma 2's clunky movement system and clunky inventory, both of which Arma 3 fixed. Hell, much of what the Dayz devs are trying to add are already in Arma 3

They also fixed the inventory so yea.
I'm okay with this. Maybe it'll turn out to be something great.
Oh no, there goes the ARMA III online community...
all i want is ACE for arma3..
all i want is ACE for arma3..
What I want is proper targeting in tanks. The year is 2035, and you still have to manually aim and ajust the gun WWII style.
I'll be honest, those guys really seem committed to it. I'll probably check it out round christmas holiday.

Hell, much of what the Dayz devs are trying to add are already in Arma 3
dayz standalone development started well before arma 3 was released, and even since it has been released the engine is still undergoing many changes if they were to make dayz from ARMA3's engine, development would likely not even have significantly started by now it is just something they can't do - they'd have to freeze the engine at a certain stage to work with and end up doing double the work if they wanted to fix problems or introduce features that came after the fact they've instead opted to take the much more stable, tried and true engine, strip its guts out and start filling it in with their own - and have been for a very long time now. the upcoming dayz isn't simply a mod built on top of the engine.
What I want is proper targeting in tanks. The year is 2035, and you still have to manually aim and ajust the gun WWII style.
Not having to do shit doesn't really sound fun at all.
Not having to do shit doesn't really sound fun at all.
You could do it yourself.
Looks better than the standalone GG. Personally I have more fun playing military simulator arma than zombie mods but interesting none the less.
That is far more jelly on the screen and more annoyingly placed than Call of Duty or any other game would do. What exactly are they thinking when they think this mechanic will be interesting, exactly?
If you are talking about when they were referring to the wound tiers, I think that was just an effect for the video and not an actual part of gameplay.
It reminded me of that picture where the blood was around the screen in COD and it shows the guy and he's bleeding out his eyes.
So I tried it out. And honestly just the engine makes it awesome already.
So I've tried it. It's pretty good. A little bad on the optimization but I'm not sure if that's due to the mod. My PC ain't the best in any case. They even have that stupid as shit blurry washed out screen going on that DayZ had!
Isn't breaking point the one where you can craft money and buy shit? Like buy armored SUVs,Humvee's,etc?
Oh no, there goes the ARMA III online community...
It was already gone, every other server is WASTELAND
urgh I like wasteland and DayZ and ARMA regular missions but why does every community on both games always just zerg DayZ and Wasteland. Why can't we have all three?
