The fact that they have a bunch of usable assets from other Ubisoft games reminds me of Garry's Mod's mounting feature. Should be fun.
this is the best idea ubisoft has had in a decade

farcry 2 came out in 2008 and that had an incredible map editor, so you're totally right
It's weird how all the content surrounding Far Cry 5 is the stuff that's getting me interested, rather than the game itself.
I've been telling myself I wouldn't be excited for this game, but they genuinely look to be doing some fun, and interesting stuff with this game.
Holy fuck that looks like it'll be a lot of fun.
I'm concerned about the DLC assets. Can a person without them still play the created content, but not just use it to create content themselves?
It's good to see Ubisoft trying to make some good variety of content these past couple of years, making up for how they used to make games in the past.
This. This is why I believe that Ubisoft is one of the least bad game publishers out there and deserve some praise. Because if we don't praise them for being better than the rest, how can they know their efforts are appreciated? And don't say "with your wallet" because Activision still makes some crazy dough.
I want this game even more now

Ubisoft has definitely improved over the last few years. Either that or every other company has just gotten a lot worse

The fact they actually delayed Far Cry 5 instead of rushing it out is a good sign.
So it's Snapmap except you can actually make cool shit with it.

You probably would need to buy the DLC but I don't see why you're already concerned about that.

It's just a map editor, they have existed long before Snapmap. The problem is always striking a balance between usability and features, which can be tricky with user facing tools, especially on a console.

I was referring to the progression system attached to the mode.

The one in Far Cry 2 pulled it off egregiously well, I reckon.
If Far Cry 5's MP is anything like it.... I really hope they mantain the MP

Unlike other publishers Ubisoft is committed to their communities and players
And just like that, Far Cry 5 is suddenly on my radar again. And i only got into the series since i found out there was a map maker in Instincts Preditor. And good times where had.
Heck, Far Cry 3's multiplayer was pretty good.
if this is what devs do in order to get people playing their games for years to come, im 100% on board
This is exactly what I've wanted for every open world game over the last few years. Hopefully more developers learn from this.
i'm curious if we can make objective based maps yet with actual endings
also how does progression even work, one has to wonder
"Bite-sized" kinda implies that they have endings.
Please no microtransactions,or at least ones for flashy ugly cosmetics, pleaseee

I hate to burst your bubble, but a significant margin of Ubisoft's profits came from microtransactions last year so I doubt they'll just go away.

At least going by their previous games they're not horribly implemented.

Doom's Snapmap gives you 3 challenges to complete that refill with new ones as you complete them and they award you points for buying more options for armor/weapon customization. You also earn a bit for completing maps. There's like a hardcoded limit to how much you earn just from finishing a map but in the first few months Doom came out, people had maps that completed themselves instantly and gave you like millions of points.
Wow, this is really a far cry from what I expected
I'm not sorry
I think I'm actually going to buy this game though, this spiked my interest
Please no microtransactions,or at least ones for flashy ugly cosmetics, pleaseee
They already confirmed that there will be Microtransactions, but they're cosmetic and not loot boxes.

They also added microtransactions to Ghost Recon Wildlands, they're never going away.
A map editor, a god damn map editor?
More games need that!
