Huh, that's pretty awesome of the devs, now I wish more developers would follow suit. :frown:
This is good. I hope the bigger developers will grow a heart and do the same.
If you were cynical, you could say that this was a pretty shrewd business move.
They're early enough in development/beta that the removal of lootboxes doesn't mean that much - doing so allows them to garner some free publicity for their Monster-Hunter-alike pre-release, while "making" a stand against evil Triple A Publishers.
I already wanted to get Dauntless because I want to show that there's a market for good Monster Hunter style games, whether they're super in depth or shallow. This move basically solidifies my purchase.

Fair point, but I don't think that the potential money from lootboxes could be beat by this at all when it comes to potential profit.

Same! I'll probably end up double dipping on Monster Hunter World, as well. It's a great genre, but there doesn't seem to be a good PC analog to the games yet, other than shoddy ports.
I'll probably go and at least check this out now because of this.
