Jesus christ.
I originally thought that seeing anything in the fourth dimension was impossible and that we could never understand it; I never knew I was wrong.
the idea of 4-D creeps me out and I would love to know more about
edit: nevermind, missing the point
I always loved the concept that each dimension projects a shadow of the dimension below it, so 4th dimensional stuff would have 3d shadows. That sounds dope.
Isn't 4th dimension time? Can't watch the video right now on phone but will later so sorry if it was answered in video
To me, what we see feels like a 2D projection, even though we can touch things and clearly sense that they're 3D as well as move our view around to different locations.
That makes me wonder what "4D" vision looks like.

Technically, the "4th dimension" could be a lot of things that could be measured, like temperature or just another vector. Video showed what 4D objects look like moving in 3D space.
What ever happened to miegakure? This video reminds me of it.

A good way to describe how to draw something in the 4th dimension is to take a 3d object, make an exact copy of it right next to it, and draw all the lines between the different vertices. In that way, Time could also be seen as a dimension in that way since if you say hold up an object in space, and then move it slightly to the right in our current timeframe, if you were able to capture every exact microsecond that object was in a new position, it would draw the lines between all the vertices for you.

That is a common misconception. Time is directly related to space and is an inherently quality of matter and energy, not another dimension.

You're probably thinking of time as the 4th dimension in space-time and not space.
If we would live in 4th or 5th dimension, we sure would understand 4th dimension.
But what if really the max is 3rd dimension as in physical reality as we can't put a 4th perpendicular axis anywhere, and what we consider the 4th dimension is just a changing property of an object, like color or mass.

or is it time?
no the 4th dimension is the chemtrails man
You're probably thinking of time as the 4th dimension in space-time and not space.
Probably that
what the fuck was with that music what kind of mood were they going for with that for a science video jesus christ
what the fuck was with that music what kind of mood were they going for with that for a science video jesus christ
They were going for the "Haha 4th dimension exists and you cant hope to ever understand it"
Wouldnt it be crazy if a 4th dimensional creature was look at you right now? You'd have no idea either
What ever happened to miegakure? This video reminds me of it.
Still in development, releasing soonish.
Read his blog.
Like we could touch a flatlander's insides easily
But then if a 4d being does that to us
What the fuck is he phasing through to do so
Fuck it just get rid of the 4th dimension we don't need it
That is a common misconception. Time is directly related to space and is an inherently quality of matter and energy, not another dimension.
No, time is another dimension. "Duration" is essentially the equivalent to "length," "width," and "breadth."
Isn't 4th dimension time? Can't watch the video right now on phone but will later so sorry if it was answered in video
It can be (and it is, in physical reality) but it's not the only thing you can have as a fourth dimension. For instance, the space of possible configurations of a 3D cube of fixed side length can really be thought of as a 6-dimensional space: The cube can be centered on a point with three coordinates, but then you have to specify how it is rotated with respect to three axes.
You're probably thinking of time as the 4th dimension in space-time and not space.
Those are mostly the same thing.
I originally thought that seeing anything in the fourth dimension was impossible and that we could never understand it; I never knew I was wrong.
I mean, you're still not really seeing the fourth dimension here, you're seeing its projection down to the third dimension (and really you're only seeing that projected onto a plane).
Huh, I thought the fourth dimension was a probability space.
don't you have to do some kind of coordinate transform to do 4d?
Another video that touches well on the subject:

If there was a 4th dimension of space, wouldn't our mathematics reveal its existence? Since physical objects would extend at least somewhat in every physical dimension. So in practice using ^3 to calculate volumes wouldn't give accurate results.
Wouldn't it be inconsistent if we existed only in 3 physical dimensions, when there's no geometry that exists only 2 or 1?
Now that I think of it, 4th physical dimension is plausible in the context of coordinate systems, but physical world doesn't work that way since coordinate systems are just a thing used to interpret physical world.
Why does it feel like a being from the 4th dimension would be such a chaotic evil entity? Like, just morping around, breaking literally all the rules we've set for how our universe is supposed to function, and all while being completely impossible to even comprehend, as you can only see it's fucked up shadow in this dimension? Like holy fuck c'thulu better sit down
does a 4D object have 3D sides or something

I'm still no closer to understanding the fourth dimension even after watching dozens of these types of videos. How does light work? Are there no physical limitations, things are just passing through each other? How would a living creature function?
Personally I like Sagans flatland explanation, that one is what made me "understand" the 4th dimension.

I would assume light to be no different in a 4D universe? Photons or wave-lengths doesn't really limit it to 3 dimensions does it? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think there is anybody who can explain how a 4-dimensional living creature would function :v:

Yes, if there were large extra dimensions, it should be obvious to us. String theory, for instance, requires 9 or 10 spatial dimensions, but they have to be curled up to a small size so that they only change the physics we see at very high energies that we have yet to probe.

I knew it!
