What a shame.
Insomniac had such vibrant characters with colorful personalities that you could see from their looks. Now it's all brown and 2real probably because of EA's direction.
The Overstrike trailer DOES make the game look infinitely more interesting than "Fuse's" trailer.
RIP.
The second trailer seems to keep similar gameplay concepts from the first, but it really just looks like another boring ~gritty~ shooter. I hate gritty shit, it's just been so overdone. I want a game with a memorable style to it instead of this desaturated, brown shit.
Oh man I was so interested in Overstrike, a lot of it having to do with its character.
It still looks like a pretty interesting game, but I agree that the change of artstyle was a bad idea.
I think part of the problem is that the first trailer was a cinematic while the other was definitely more reflective of actual gameplay.
It's a lot easier to make a pre-rendered video have character and spunk than gameplay.
Although I agree, the art style shift was definitely in a very boring and cliche direction.
My god, Fuse looks so fucking shit.
Why do the publishers think that it's safer to have a Call of Duty clone instead of a unique, quirky and original game?
Why won't they realise that Call of Duty clones just make even less of a profit than original, amazing games?
They're ruining too many great ideas and concepts and it will always end in the developers getting fired.
Was kinda excited for Overstrike, Fuse still looks like it could have some interesting gameplay, but I do have to agree the grittier feel really ruins a lot of it.
So the first one is a rendered trailer and second one is gameplay bits. Rendered trailers always look better than gameplay.
If EA kill Insomniac I'm declaring war.

The entire artstyle changed though, that's the problem. We're not mad that the gameplay is different than the trailer made it seem, we're made that it turned from a cartoonish/semi realistic artstyle into a ~gritty, 2real4u~ art style.

This looks mighty familiar, doesn't it?
EA, you do know that you can make money by making various products instead of the same brown shooter, right?
The words used to justify the change would probably be "mass-market appeal".
And nothing kills a game more than mass-market appeal.
Oh for fucks sake EA, you turned a "unique" game into generic future war shooter soldier man
“The game started out with a much more stylized and campy direction. We were actually going for something on the level of Ratchet & Clank, except with humans,” Allgeier said. “Maybe it was going to appeal to gamers who, we thought at the time, might be in their late teens. The industry’s changed quite a bit… We would focus test the game in front of a lot of gamers, and get their opinion. These are people that regularly play PlayStation 3 and Xbox games. We started to discover that everyone thought this was a game for their younger brother. We would hear this from 12-year-olds. So we decided that we needed to make a game that had an older appeal.”
Where the fuck did they get their focus group?

Pixar needs a videogame studio :(

I'd rather have them focus on just movies

Do they not realize games like COD are filled with 10 year olds?
I just hope they don't ruin Sim City 5!
I can see it now... "Editable City: Call Of Recon Unit 5"
I really hate focus groups. They nearly always fuck things up.
Best focus group would just be releasing a demo online and asking people what they think.

That would be interesting. I'd want to see that happen, just to see what would come out of it, y'know?

Because sadly, sales figures show them.

I can understand a need to shift slightly to make it appear more mature, but bland shooter brown isn't the way to do it. Borderlands pulls off humour and style without looking "kiddie" or brown
It seems like the first trailer was just concept and this is what they ended up with, I don't think it has anything to do with EA.
And if it is EA, they've been doing shit like this from the very start, anyone remember Future Strike?
This was already posted. but anyway I'll say it again.
Now it looks like a common shooter with bland graphics while the original had a great name and amazing clean art style.
Look at all those chest high walls!
...Oh my GOD.
They did...THAT,to Overstrike?
Goddamnit I was looking forward to that game so much!
It looked like it could have been a fun, amusing and light-hearted game, instead they turned it into, well,THAT.
I'm not buying Fuse for sure,if they can't tell that people want something like Overstrike would have been over that shit then they don't deserve my money.
Also Fuse looks terrible anyways, generic enemies, artstyle, enemies, environments, everything.
It could have been a fun, bright game full of character(aka something that rarely ever happens these days but noooo, they had to make it dark and gritty and serious and "realistic".
