apparently the only gift anyone wants is a new Nintendo ds
Is there anyway this could be more about materialistic goods and shallow sexual perceptions? The entire fucking music video takes place in a Macys. I mean, maybe I missing the point, because I thought this was a music video but it looks like a commercial. And look at Mariah posing like she's a little school girl against a brick wall like shes about to get raped in an alley.
I forgot Christmas wasn't about family, friends, or giving but it was about buying shit at Macys.

dude what the fuck mariah carey is like 41 years old
this is some really hardcore milf shit

Yeah... I know right. It's a fucking music video for their own fucking song, why are they trying to push products? A music video is supposed to be a service to the fans, not a big ass ad for two soon-to-be washed up singers.
oh no, what are we ever going to do!!
boycott nintendo, burn your consoles and your games!11
In all honesty I don't see what the big fuss is about. It isn't really hurting anyone. Your ears, perhaps, but that isn't something to blame Nintendo over.
What's so bad about product placement anyways? You want your product bought, what will you do?
>Nothing
>Advertise it very little
>Advertise it a lot
I do agree that Christmas has lost it's true meaning to most people but this stupid music video isn't going to make people suddenly go "OH CHRISTMAS ISN'T ABOUT FAMILY OR FRIENDS ANYMORE, IT'S JUST BUYING SHIT FOR PEOPLE!! THANKS, LUDICROUSLY BAD MUSIC VIDEO!11 :downs:"
Something makes me think if there wasn't Justin Beiber or any other singer in this video that most of FP doesn't really like, it wouldn't be getting such attention.
Which is absurdly silly if you ask me...
But this all just my opinion.
Edit: And admit it. There's been worse product placements. Pikmin, a video game that had little to do with realism, had product placements of sodas, IIRC.
Edit: Also, this is a music video. More people listen to the song then watch the video. You don't hear them singing about buying the 3DS, you only notice it if you take the time to watch it.
Fuck you, pikmin was awesome.
Not saying it wasn't awesome, but I bet quite a few people thought it wasn't very smart.
I don't think you understand that a music video doesn't need to have product placement like films or I guess games because they aren't as expensive. A music video is a compliment to the music and can be in many ways an art form. These two are extremely rich, have their own product lines, and are still whoring out what could be a very serious medium for their art and instead they say 'fuck it I want my check'.
Who cares if Macy's or Nintendo put in ads, that's not a big deal. It's the sell outs who accept the check (mariah and the lesbian) that once again prove they don't care about their fans.
ha, he has a faux hawk now. What a fucking step up in that department.

Maybe they demanded a lot of money for the music video/it turned out to be too expensive and had to do a product placement to help cover costs?
I always think there's a reason behind everything.
And if it's the sell outs who are the problem, why is mostly everyone in this thread pretty much complaining about the product placement? :v:
Oh well.
I'll just stop here.
He has really big collars

I'm not saying product placement is bad, it is needed in big budget projects and can actually contribute to the media in positive ways. It can be woven into media that allows us, the viewers, to feel realism with everyday products being used. Sometimes it can even bring a laugh or create further sentimental value for the product.
Other times product placement just fills the role of a unnoticeable background such as in sports games and racing. This is completely understandable as this situation is not much different from real advertisements. Infact, in Burnout Paradise it was fun to smash into Fusion Razer vans.
This commercial (Music Video?) is just schlock to shamelessly shove in products with attention grabbing actors. Kinda like how Adam Sandler used product placement in Jack and Jill.
All I can say is if you've got a chance like that to gather a lot of attention for your product, I'd say go for it.
The 3DS wasn't selling well anyways (which is a shame, I really like it) so that was the big boost they might've been looking for.
Sounds like a cliche situation but popular stars using a product in a video or something really influences it's sales.
I don't blame them. If I ran a company and I had a perfectly good product that wasn't selling as well as I expected it to, I would've done the same thing.
Thinking back though, Nintendo has a lot of money and aren't in desperate need, so I guess there's a flaw with what they did...

If anything this video will just further cause hardcore gamers to distance themselves from the JB/3DS relationship. Maybe it will bring in little girls who like Justin Bieber and video games (Whoops, wrong demographic.)
If they want a "big boost", they're going to need to do better then just spending large amounts of money for Justin Bieber to smile with it.
I'm a 3DS early adopter myself, but maybe instead they should focus on creating a solid original library and enhancing the multiplayer of games greatly.
mariah carey needs LESS CLOTHES
Is Justin Bieber wearing lipstick?

Yeah, you're right...
The advertising section of companies aren't always the smartest...

I'm pretty sure that a music video is a service which the artist or their record company seeks out, not the other way around.
Mariah Carey doesn't age at fucking all.
i never really got the jokes about jbeebz lookin like a chick, but not gonna lie he looks like a lesbian now
