Came across this in my recommended, mostly agreed with it but some stuff I didn't really care for. What's your take?
There's been a lowkey war between crossdressers and transpeople for a long ass time now, what the hell happened that caused so many drama queens that happen to be trans to get such a big voice? Definitely lost a lot of respect for TB and jesse from this(Especially since jesse has literally said that traps are gay in the past)
I don't get how term 'trap' would really be transphobic, if anything it is malephobic because it implies men can't be cute and that they can only look like women.
Traps has nothing to do with transgender people at all, this is such a dumb discussion.
And traps can be whatever sexuality they want

I thought the "are traps gay?" question always meant "Is it gay for a man to be attracted to men that pass as cute women?" rather than "Are men who pass as cute women gay?"
I find the term trap has a massive positive connotation in the general online community, like the idea of using "trap" as an insult is just laughable.
People seem to read too deep into the the word's origin than its actual current contexual meaning.
P.S. traps are the best.

Well the answer to that is yes, if you are sexually attracted to person same sex as you are then you are gay, or at least bisexual if you still have interest to opposite sex.
It isn't any fourth dimensional chess with obscure rules, if you are for example one of people who go "it ain't gay if it is cute" then you should use your dumb rules both ways as in "being attracted to non cute women is gay", you can't just make up rules and then use them only when they work in your favor.
Plus being gay is okay.

Sex and sexuality are too complicated for this to really work. Gay-Straight-Bisexual categories are just a bit too shit to actually describe how humans work.

A lot of men who are turned on by transwomen don't have men work for them.

Many people still talk about trans people as if they're trying to trick people, it's downright delusional to say that that meaning has completely died and been replaced with the current memery.
I mean fuck this video literally utilizes that connotation at points and then just throws it out. You can't just change a definition when it's convenient to a political ideology, which is what this video is. Just a garbage rant about totalbiscuit and whatnot becoming an SJW boogeyman expressed with terribly fallacious and distorting logic "TB used to value freedom of expression over feelings!1"
Calling a transwoman a trap is rude and transphobic. The term is derived from the stereotype/myth that transwomen want to trick straight men in to "gay" sex. Plus it points out that they were born men, which is not something you should do.
idk about the recent meme that came out of nowhere but the concept of traps in japanese media has always been kinda transphobic & homophobic due to the huge lack of understanding and acceptance of either things. I can see why it's a touchy subject
If you aren't in on the joke, I can see how that question just kinda sounds like somebody is trying to start some shit.
And that's more like, for all the other people at the convention or watching online, and not so much if Jesse gets it or not.

I mean that's what I didn't agree with the video, but you have to realize Totalbiscuit actually had a connection to that and it isn't just some random thing.
I'm more interested in the trend of some content creators on YouTube doing heel-turns against their fans. TB has always been a bit of a narcissist but he really has gone off the deep end as of late where I find the Spoony comparison rather apt.

I mean I'd argue that TB hasn't really had a great direct relationship with his fans for quite a long time. We've known for years that he's quite liable to literally breaking down, even being advised by a therapist to limit his interaction with his audience iirc.
It's not really a youtuber issue either really for creators to have a rift driven between them and their fans. Often it's not even the fault of either party doing anything "wrong," people just change, and it's a very difficult line of communication. Totalbiscuit really did it first when he quit wow.

I mean all one really has to do is go onto google and type in "trap meaning" and you'll find tons of its usage pertains to trans people. Even trans people often use it that way on 4chan and twitter.

That's more of a problem with the mainstream idea of sexuality being still just based on gender identity. For those sorts of people the best descriptor would probably be that they're attracted to femininity rather than being attracted to women specifically, we just don't have words to account for the way gender expression interacts with sexuality yet.
Calling a transwoman a trap is just as bad as calling them a shemale.

Neither of those terms have anything to do with trans people and neither does this have anything to do with this situation. No singular person was called anything, how about actually check what this is all about before you post.

I can't believe you actually wrote on the internet that the term "shemale" has nothing to do with trans people
I can't believe you actually wrote on the internet that the term "shemale" has nothing to do with trans people
A shemale is in general use a feminine character, with boobs, no female sexual parts, and male sexual parts. Just because some assholes co-opted a term shouldn't change that term forever.
I still watch some of TB's content (especially the podcast), but in the last few years he has again and again said that he doesn't want people like me to be in his audience (in this case because I think throwing that guy out of the whole convention he paid for because he repeated a stupid meme is a real asshole-move). It definitely made me reconsider supporting him in various ways. For instance I would really like to watch the podcast VODs on Twitch, but I'd rather use my Twitch Prime subscription on streamers I feel deserve it more for not acting like assholes to their fans.
I walked in on an irl trans friend of mine going off on a huge angry rant about how traps, crossdressers and dragqueens are all disgusting and horrible and give trans people a terrible name. I've been very supportive of her in the past and throughout the rant she'd look at me like "back me up here", her having no clue I'm a crossdresser myself. It was so awkward.
But hearing my friend's points I can sorta see how one would come to the conclusion of "traps/crossdressers are transphobic", but I think its stupid and deeply ignorant, and folks getting this bent out of shape over a goofy joke is just sad man.

"Some assholes" was the sex industry where it was used as a term to refer to trans women. That was the main connotation, which is a direct reference to trans people.
"sissy" being the term here that is legitimately an issue
I wouldn't say that really, though I can see your point there.
Regardless of what you think of the whole "trap" situation (Personally I think the word is fine in the context of crossdressing) you should be able to understand why they threw him out: he asked something completely irrelevant and inappropriate just to get a reaction out of people.

You don't really have to throw people out for asking terrible questions.
Most conventions/panels IIRC just take your mic away and go to the next question without answering you unless you're really causing some shit.

They wanted to stay out of a controversy because it's a very sensitive subject.
sissy stuff is inherently based around degradation and the main way it goes around it is by feminization, meaning that they consider feminization degrading (even considering that potential "forced" aspects of it might be more important)
I get that, but as someone who has been in many crossdressing circles, I can say that most sissies are just harmless fetishists who just wanna do something freaky and taboo with a consenting party, and aren't looking to hurt anyone.
(Especially since jesse has literally said that traps are gay in the past)
Could you elaborate on why that's bad/wrong to say?
Do you really think he said it with malicious intent rather than just ignorance?
The "sissy" thing isn't perpetuating the whole femininity in men is bad attitude. It's just a niche fetish that resulted from it.
Jesus though did Totalbiscuit and Jesse both take this awfully.
Could you elaborate on why that's bad/wrong to say?

Jesse's just being a hypocrite by finding the question offensive now, that's all.
