I knew I recognized him from somewhere.
That guy is funny made me laugh pretty good a few times
C'mon, everyone knows that the first American anime was AEon Flux. It had an obnoxiously sexy main character, a plot not even the director could adequately explain, enormous amounts of unnecessary violence, and as much softcore fetishism as humanly possible. It fits the description of nearly every mature shounen anime since the 80s perfectly, on top of being pretty well animated.

the early episodes of aeon flux were pretty fucking bizarre. around season 3 it got into typical 80s seinen territory but early on was like watching an anime by sam hyde
it should come as no surprise that aeon flux plays out like an anime seeing as it was made by a guy born in seoul not long after japanese colonial rule, at a time when japanese culture had forcibly dominated korean culture.
