What a bullshit argument. If it can't be based off of a culture or religion, that doesn't exactly leave a very large pool of candidate mascots. How can something not be based off of somebody's culture?
Also I will never understand what stereotypes are perpetuated by the Chief. Nobody thinks modern Native Americans run around dancing and chanting in full ceremonial dress. The Chief is loosely based off of Native American warriors from hundreds of years ago. Who really gives a shit whether his clothing or dance is 100% accurate? I really try to understand where they're coming from but I just can't.
