I don't know what it is, but Nitro Rad is so fucking great when it comes to reviews
I was kinda wondering at the beginning why he included the whole story about buying it on release, but that kinda came full circle when he started talking about how he had so many good memories of the game, so that when he was replaying it he was constantly looking forward to what was about to happen next. Which is kind of a good, off-topic point related to nostalgia and how we'll enjoy something more if we associate it a good time in our lives. I might have to give Galaxy 2 another try sometime in the future, since I didn't really feel motivated to beat it the first time around, and I couldn't really figure out what it was about it at the time (and in retrospect, if it really was something about it rather than how I generally felt at the time). I actually enjoy the atmosphere a lot more in Galaxy 1, 2 didn't have the whole grandiose soundtrack that made the game special to me.

I love both games, but SMG2 does feel a bit more like a usual Mario. (not that that's really bad)
Yeah that being said Galaxy 2 was not a bad game by any stretch of the imagination, I just feel like 1 was better for the atmosphere and the level details. Maybe it's nostalgia, I don't know, but Buoy Base, Good Egg, Gusty Garden... I can remember all those galaxies so well. 2 for me didn't have many memorable galaxies besides maybe Flip Swap. Galaxy 2 has more of a "3D world" design to it than a "Galaxy" design, if that makes sense. Maybe it's because I'm a huge sucker for space. I just feel like the space theme sort of dropped off in 2, it being almost an afterthought rather than the main gimmick.
