amazing, seems like they're using twitch chat to issue commands
I saw Clustertruck in early access and it looked fairly cool, but watching videos of it was enough for me at that early state.
But this
my god
I can see my wallet trying to sneak away already.
Previously recorded got the same treatment last night
Previously_Recorded (of redlettermedia fame) and Vinny of Vinesauce both were invaded by the devs recently, and its fucking crazy- they can type text and and hack gravity and do all sorts of stuff to your game while twitch roulette mode is being used in game.
This and the gameplay made me buy the game, and it is well worth the 15 bucks its worth. Please do grab it!
thats neat but a little worrying if the devs can just run arbitrary code on someone like that
they said on reddit they can only do specific things, and they can only open the rick roll URL, and nothing else (though I'd imagine that they can probably change it, at the moment it's ONLY the rick roll URL)

also they have to be usign the ingame twitch integration
the twitch integration in clustertruck is some of the best ive seen in games that attempt to do it.

if you're worried about game developers running commands from twitch chat then you should worry that they're executing code on your computer by even running the game!!!
This is great! More developers should do this.

im concerned about the launching of chrome, but opening a webpage seems to be an unreal engine function not just remote command execution (this is unreal right)

used to do stuff similar to this in Rune multiplayer as a mod, watch to people jump at eachother then slow down time. Having control like this through is great for everyone involved.

It's Unity but the same explanation applies.

A ton of stuff opens webpages from inside an application
For games it's usually "Click here to read the terms of service" , or "click here to create an account", or whatever

Try out the alpha

Somewhat relevant: developer giving streamer some.. "customized" builds

Developers that participate in their games in this way are the best developers imo.
It also happened to ProtonJon when he streamed it. Game starts around 3:02:50 with TomFawkes as guest commentator. Dev shenanigans start around [sp]3:14:20[/sp]
ProtonJon is also one of my favourite streamers and a rather unique one at that, as the stream will show.

I don't think this is considered arbitrary code execution
This is more of something they built into the game beforehand to be triggered by chat later.
That's a really neat idea. I wonder how people would have reacted if this happened in a game with a metanarrative like Superhot (certainly could have used it).
