I thought he was going to share his opinions on the movie
Why do I give a shit what this smug-faced little prick has to say?
My bad, everyone has decided they love this guy now.

what a shit-eating grin he likes to sport

the way he talks about raising the price of ONE drug as if because a small percentage of people are affected by it, it excuses it and makes it acceptable to profit from it. i don't understand this guy

I'm pretty sure the point in that was because such a small amount of people use it, it had no monetary effect on anyone other than insurance companies, and to those companies it probably wasn't even a blip on their radar. As the hosts mentioned, ordinarily if you increase the cost of a drug that's paid for by insurance, the insurance company raises prices for policy holders to accommodate. But if only a few thousand people use it versus the millions of people total that hold policies, then the insurance company likely didn't have to increase prices at all. Think of it almost like crowdsourcing the cost of the medication. Plus, like he said, if a doctor deems that medication to be most effective and they don't have insurance, they get it free (Proof needed).
If that is indeed the case then I won't lie, I would've done the same thing.
Mods can we get a smiley of his face in the video thumbnail?
I tuned out after the first couple minutes of "I had a rough upbringing so I deserve respect."

it's still profiteering from bumping up the price. sure, that one might not effect much (although i'm pretty sure there's a good reason for all that public outcry. i'll be honest - i'm not so well read up on this, so i'll have to check on that) but surely, if nobody gets mad when prices get bumped up by people who'll be as reckless about it as shkreli, other prices'll get bumped up and by the time people DO start causing an uproar, it'll be a bit too late
then again, maybe i'm just "what's-next"-ing a bit too hard. either way, i don't agree with his methods, or particularly like the guy :v:

yeah it was a bit off putting, but charlemagne kept being pissy being all "why should I give you any respect."
What I'm getting from this is that he is a relatively normal guy who saw a controversial opportunity that could make him millions and decided to take it. For 45 Million USD he'll face intense media scrutiny and nearly universal outrage towards him and his character for a few years, destroying his good name in for the sake of a lot money. A few years later everyone will forget about him and move on and he will still have his money. Hopefully he will do some good down the road to make up for all the controversy and no one is actually being hurt in the process.

The public outcry was largely due to misunderstanding. People saw a company buy the rights to a little-used drug and immediately inflate the prices massively and assumed they were basically extorting people to stay alive - an assumption that was fair to make, I suppose.
In reality, Shrekli was taking advantage of Obamacare. Since everyone is now legally required to have health insurance and since companies can no longer deny people for pre-existing conditions, no individual can be harmed by his price increases. They would be paying the same insurance rate they would have before the increase.
As someone else said, the drugs they purchased were only used by a small number of people and the rise, even as drastic as it was, would not have warranted an increase in insurance costs for the masses.
You could argue that he's scummy for exploiting legislation to earn profits easily, but businesses have been doing that for all time. He didn't actually harm any individual. In fact, he's said repeatedly that his company is willing to give the drugs away for free for people who are uninsured.
I've seen a lot of this guy recently and really struggle to work him out. He's playing off the Villain role, he knows it and he's embracing it. At the same time I can't help notice he raises a lot of solid points and generally comes across as a reasonably (albeit rich) normal guy.
Whats this Bridger Capital place anyway?

It's strange most information regarding this online are just responses to this interview, nothing really comes up. Charlemagne moving up in the world
the comment section is obsessed with the bridger thing lol
There was a Bridger Capitol thread on Kanyetothe and it was reaching like 100 posts every 50 seconds or so.

Are you throwing hands right now?
He's being manipulative, it's a hallmark of a good corporate asshole, he's playing the "it's not me, it's those other guys, I'm just misunderstood". He's not misunderstood, he's a corporate psychopath, he uses brute force tactics in the courts, yet he knows all the hatred is still going to effect his business in one way or the other. He doesn't care what people think of him deep down, he feels no guilt what so ever.
If you start thinking, "he's not such a bad guy" then he'll win. Don't fall for it.
I tuned out after the first couple minutes of "I had a rough upbringing so I deserve respect."
The interviewers asked precisely about it, whether he is a privileged prick. He merely explained his background a bit. And yes, anyone who comes from a poor starting place and ends up getting a higher education and working a career, then yeah that asks for at least a little bit of respect, like Shkreli said again, using the words "a little" or "a bit" when saying it, and he also said it quite transiently at the end of a longer sentence when already moving onto a new question.

Maybe. Then he's been lying all along. In the interview he said pretty much the opposite, that he never lies, making him quite the liar.

Or maybe you were just too quick about making your judgement about the...smug-faced little prick. You're still dumber than he is.

Anyway, he's a pretty interesting character for sure. Full of shit, or not so full of shit? I'm not sure

I figured you might have a point so I watched the video in its entirety. While I agree I made a quick judgement, as he seems pretty down to Earth and socially adept, he's still really smug.
Being a dickhead to boost your infamy is still being a dickhead.
And as far as me being dumber than him, yeah, I might be. He's got a few years on me and I'm not a cunt so it all works out.
Those corporate psychopaths are very good liars, most of their families say things like "you don't know what they're like when they're at home" and that sort of thing they're very good at masking their real personality. Shkreli has no fear, which is why is he's rich, he doesn't work hard, he can sit in front of investors without anxiety and push people over while acting 'nice' to them.
Corporate psychopaths act, charming and warm, but underneath they take pleasure in harming others.
Shkreli has isn't yet a master manipulator, hence why he fucked up, but everything he does points to the same answer.
In short he needs people to think he's a 'nice', don't fall for it, call him out for what he is; a worthless piece of shit.
The clue is in the uncertainty, but if you're still unsure, google 'corporate psychopath' and watch the pieces line up.
That sounds like crazy talk RoboChimp. But sure, that's one possibility. That he's a being of pure evil.
I was in Martin Shkreli's live stream yesterday and I asked "Where do you find the prime quality Goons?" and he said "Definitely Brooklyn, definitely check that out" and I said "I like my Goons free range" and he smirked and didn't reply.

Does he schedule his streams or is it random.

The same reasons that people glorify Trump and Keemstar. The honest asshole is the most honest person of all apparently.
